KLSCM 2023 - Major Roads, Highways Closed On September 30 And October 1
The Ampang-Kuala Lumpur Elevated Highway (Akleh) and the Duta-Ulu Kelang Motorway (Duke) are among the major roads that will be closed on Saturday (September 30) and Sunday (October 1) to accommodate the 2023 Kuala Lumpur Standard Chartered Marathon (KLSCM).
Datuk Allaudeen Abdul Majid, the police chief of Kuala Lumpur, said the international running event, which will take place on Saturday and Sunday depending on the category, is expected to draw 25,000 participants from Malaysia and abroad.
He stated that several roads, including Jalan Raja (Dataran Merdeka) leading to Jalan Raja Laut, Jalan Sultan Ismail, and Jalan Dang Wangi, will be closed and diverted from midnight to 11 a.m. on Saturday.
Jalan Ampang leads to the city centre, Jalan Kuching leads to the Dato Onn Roundabout, and Jalan Parlimen, Jalan Cenderawasih, and Jalan Hishamuddin leads to Jalan Raja. On Sunday, 29 roads will be closed, including Akleh and Duke (from Ulu Kelang north to the Duta Toll).
“Other roads to be closed include Jalan Lebuh Ampang to Jalan Tun Perak, Jalan TAR from Chow Kit to Dataran Merdeka, Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah from the direction of Sentul to Jalan TAR, Jalan Sultan Ismail on both directions, Jalan Tun Razak to Jalan Ampang from the Kg Pandan roundabout and Jalan Tun Razak to Jalan Kuching in the city centre near the World Trade Centre,” he said in a statement.
In addition to KLSCM 2023, Allaudeen stated that police will close some roads in conjunction with the Petronas Le Tour Langkawi Malaysia 2023 (LTDL 2023), which began on Saturday in Kerteh, Terengganu and will end on October 30 in KLCC, Kuala Lumpur.
He stated that the cycling race will pass through several major roads in the capital, with nine roads closed.
“Among the roads involved are Jalan Jelatek to Jalan Ampang in the city centre and to Jalan Kg Pandan, Jalan Tun Razak to Jalan Ampang starting in front of the PNB building, from Jalan Sultan Ismail-Jalan Ampang intersection to the Jalan Ampang-Jalan Yap Kwan Seng intersection.
All of the road closures and diversions will take place from 3.15 pm to 4.15 pm,” he said.
As a result, he advised those planning to travel on those roads to plan ahead of time and work with the police to ensure a smooth flow of traffic in the area.
He stated that the public can contact the Kuala Lumpur Traffic Hotline at 03-2071 9999 / 03-2071 9777, the Kuala Lumpur Police Hotline at 03-2115 9999, or the Kuala Lumpur Traffic Facebook page with any questions.
