Yinson & CelcomDigi Inks MOU - 4G LTE & 5G To Improve chargEV Charging Network

CelcomDigi Berhad (CelcomDigi) and Yinson Holdings Berhad (Yinson), a global leader in energy infrastructure and technology, inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to work on the development of new electric vehicle (EV) services and infrastructure for the Malaysian market.

Their collaborative efforts aim to increase the adoption of electric vehicles and green energy solutions in Malaysia. Yinson will use the reach and high-speed capabilities of CelcomDigi's 4G LTE and 5G network to improve connection for chargEV charging network as well as rydeEV and drivEV in the eMobility space.

Furthermore, both company's will work together to create new and innovative solutions that will enable consumers to stay connected while having easy access to eco-friendly and technology-driven services like as eBikes, electric vehicles, EV charging stations, and solar infrastructure.

Datuk Idham Nawawi, Chief Executive Officer of CelcomDigi, emphasised the company's commitment as a digital enabler for Malaysians through its Innovation Centre. He highlighted their dedication in delivering innovation and IoT solutions beyond traditional telecommunications services.

He referred to this collaboration with Yinson as a significant milestone, marking the first instance in Malaysia where a telecommunications service provider has partnered with a global energy infrastructure and technology company to revolutionise the delivery of EV services to consumers.

Lim Chern Yuan, Yinson's Group Chief Executive Officer, expressed the importance of connectivity and innovative technology in shaping an efficient, clean, and equitable transportation system for the future. He underscored the value of this partnership in line with progressive government policies supporting such endeavours.

The MoU was formally signed by Datuk Idham Nawawi and Lim Chern Yuan during the ongoing EVM Asia 2023, which was part of the Smart Nation Expo 2023. The signing ceremony was witnessed by YB Datuk Arthur Joseph Kurup, Deputy Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Malaysia. Also present were Yinson's Group Executive Chairman, Lim Han Weng, CelcomDigi's Deputy CEO, Albern Murty, and Chief Innovation Officer, T. Kugan.
