The ecosystem would include pattern approvals for EV charging systems, battery testing, and certification for EV components and systems, with the goal of significantly expanding the EV value chains by stimulating both supply and demand. 284087_gettyimages489804080batterypackandenginehigherres_245327.jpg

Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, the Minister of Investment, Trade, and Industry, stated that Sirim has established the necessary ecosystem for Malaysia to emerge as a significant player in the global electric vehicle market.

“Sirim has constantly been a key contributor to the development of our industries, particularly in the fields of research, technology and quality.

Smart #1 is priced from RM189,000 for the smart #1 Pro, from RM219,000 for the smart #1 Premium, and from RM249,000 for the smart #1 Brabus.

“It has proven to be a valuable partner in each of the five priority sectors by helping to uplift the capabilities of industry players,” he said during the launch of the complete ecosystems for EV industry in Malaysia.
According to Tengku Zafrul, Malaysia places a high priority on electric vehicles (EVs), as evidenced by plans and policies like the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR) and the Low Carbon Mobility Blueprint (LCMB).

One area where Sirim is having a big influence is the electric vehicle (EV) industry, which is a subsector of the electrical and electronic (E&E) sector, he said.
“The NRBTC, which aims to provide high-quality and impartial third-party testing, verification and validation for large, high-power rechargeable batteries, not only will play a key role in developing an industry focused on battery testing and related services in Malaysia but also help position Malaysia as a destination of choice for manufacturers of EV batteries.

“We cannot ignore the pace of growth of the EV industry around the world, whereby in 2022, 10 million EVs were sold globally, 80 times more than the total sales in 2012, with global EV-related investment exceeding RM1.98 trillion,” he added.
According to Sirim, Malaysia's entire electric vehicle ecosystem will be critical in ensuring that the batteries, charging systems, and components used in electric mobility are safe, reliable, and efficient, fostering consumer confidence in EV. sMjuIjHk_1700822229-full.jpg
