These Rally-Inspired Suzuki Jimnys Are Heading to TAS 2024
Two customised Suzuki Jimnys headline DAMD's lineup for the Tokyo Auto Salon 2024
As we get closer to the 2024 edition of Tokyo Auto Salon (TAS), more and more automakers and tuning houses have announced their official lineups for one of the biggest aftermarket showcases in the world. Aside from Nissan and Honda, renowned tuning house DAMD has revealed its lineup for the TAS 2024, headlined by two customised Suzuki Jimnys.

Featuring design inspired by rally legends, the first of the two customised Jimnys pays homage to the iconic Lancia Delta Integrale. For starters, the Jimny’s front face has been swapped for the Lancia ones, featuring the same quad circular headlights, dual-nose front grille design, plus a pair of yellow fog lamps on the lower part of the front bumper.
Aside from the face, the customised Jimny, also known as the ‘Little Δ’ (Delta), is also draped in the same red hue as the original Delta, plus a racing stripe as the Delta that runs along its body. Topping off Jimny’s legendary rally homage are the massive Delta rear wing, as well as the OZ steelie wheels wrapped in off-road tyres the car rides on.

Moving on to the second customised model, this custom Jimny – dubbed the ‘Little 5’ – gains its rally inspos from the revered French rally hatch, the Renault 5. Specifically inspired by the Renault 5 Turbo rally homologation special, this Jimny sports the same squared headlights as the hot hatch, with a horizontal radiator front grille to match.
Similar to the Delta-inspired Jimny, this custom model also rides on rally-ready OZ wheels shod in off-road tyres. Ironically, the custom Jimny gets side decals that read ‘non turbo’ – a rather cheeky nod to the turbocharged French rally hatch, which sports a ‘Turbo’ decal instead. Elsewhere, you’ll find a small rear wing crowning at the back of its roof.
The Malaysian-spec Suzuki Jimny gets a peppier 1.5-litre 4-cyl mill compared to its JDM counterpart
In spite of their rally-ready looks, both the customised Jimnys do not boast any performance upgrades beneath their fancy bodywork. For the Japanese market, the little Jimny is exclusively powered by a tiny 658-cc 3-cyl turbocharged mill that makes 63 HP and 96 NM. For the international markets, including Malaysia, however, the Jimny gets a bigger and peppier 1.5-litre 4-cyl nat-asp engine, delivering 100 HP and 130 NM to all four wheels.
Besides the two rally-wrap Jimnys, DAMD’s showcase at the upcoming TAS 2024 also features some other custom builds, including a rugged Toyota Hiace known as the ‘Deface’, plus several rugged and quirky Kei car builds.
