- Lamborghini Surpassed 10,000 Sales Last Year For First Time
The Italian marque Lamborghini broke the record for the best sales year ever in 2023 when it delivered more than 10,000 units for the first time in its 60-year history.
In a cross-section of the entire car market, you wouldn't expect a supercar brand like Lamborghini to sit alongside high-volume sellers such as Toyota. And, while the Italian marque did not sell a large number of vehicles, it did sell far more than one might expect.
In fact, the company recently surpassed that milestone, selling 10,112 vehicles globally in the previous calendar year. These sales figures are largely due to the Urus.
Overall, 2023 marked a return to normalcy in the industry, with several automakers increasing their sales volumes after a turbulent few years. Wealthy buyers are even more willing to pay six figures for the Urus, as Lamborghini sold exactly 3,000 examples in the United States alone.
Germany ranked second with 957 units, followed by China (845) and the United Kingdom (801). Given Lamborghini's ties to parent company Audi, it's not surprising that Germans appear to adore the Urus.
Only 409 cars were delivered to Italy, ranking it eighth among the automaker's hottest markets. Mind you, Italians have to pay high taxes on high-performance supercars, which probably contributes to the lower domestic demand.
The Urus accounted for 6,087 of the total 10,112 units sold by Lamborghini, or slightly more than 60%. The Huracan accounted for nearly all of the remaining sales, with 3,962 (39% of the total). Lamborghini replaced cars lost in a 2022 transporter ship fire, as well as some extremely limited-run models such as the Aventador-based Countach LPI 800-4.
Regarding the Revuelto, Lamborghini's replacement for the Aventador, the company has already stated that there is a three-year waiting list for its flagship model.
