- Pan Borneo Highway Project Will Be Completed This Year - Nanta
The Minister of Works, Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi, announced that 98.91% of the work on the Sarawak Pan Borneo Highway (LPB) project had been completed.
According to him, the construction work can be completed this year even though some design modifications are still necessary due to soil issues at the relevant locations.
"That's the reason the project's work progress hasn't reached 100%," the minister stated at a press conference on Thursday at the Public Works Complex in this city, following the delivery of his New Year's mandate and monthly assembly with the ministry's staff.
Nanta also stated that, with regard to the Sabah LPB project, the work progress for Phase 1A, which comprises 15 work packages, had reached nearly 87%.
"For the Phase 1B package, which involves 19 work packages, it is in the tender process," he added. The minister also revealed that the West Coast Expressway, which includes the Perak alignment, is expected to open the following month. It will relieve traffic during the holiday seasons by providing an alternate route to the North-South Expressway (PLUS).
