The 7th edition of the Malaysia Autoshow 2024 (MAS 2024) concluded with record-breaking success, as OEMs reported potential sales of up to RM1.4 billion in value. On top of which, the show also saw 2,620 vehicle bookings placed, and 13,799 sales leads generated.

Held at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS) from May 21 to May 26, this year's edition featured over 200 brands and exhibitors, spanning 50,000 square metres. The event also attracted 223,876 visitors, marking a 17% increase from the previous year, setting new records and establishing a high benchmark for future editions.

MAS 2024 also saw 47 product launches and facilitated 6,263 test-drives and test-rides of various models. The event showcased a diverse range of attractions, including concept vehicles, electric and efficient ICE vehicles, autonomous driving demonstrations, modified cars, classic automobiles, campervans, even military vehicles.

Throughout the six-day event, 15 MoUs and MoAs were signed amongst industry players, particularly in the new energy vehicles (NEV) space. Additionally, NEVs accounted for 50% of the vehicles on display, aligning with the National Automotive Policy (NAP2020) and the New Industrial Master Plan (NIMP2030) - both of which emphasise greener and more efficient technologies.

Several significant forums and summits also took place during the event, attracting international delegates from countries such as Australia, Belgium, England, Indonesia, Japan, China, and Korea. These gatherings enriched the understanding of the evolving automotive landscape.

Minister of Investment, Trade, and Industry (MITI), Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Aziz, having attended the event remarked on the impressive turnout and engagement at MAS 2024, which clearly indicated robust interest and confidence in Malaysia's automotive industry.

He further emphasised that as Southeast Asia's second-largest automotive market, Malaysia has a strong foundation to propel the sector's growth, particularly in electric vehicles, thanks to its well-established E&E sector and the nation's push towards a net zero target by 2050.

MARii CEO, Azrul Reza Aziz, meanwhile expressed his gratitude for the overwhelming support MAS 2024 received from visitors, sponsors, partners, and exhibitors. He proudly announced that MAS 2024 has been recognized by the Malaysia Book of Records as the Largest International Autoshow in Malaysia.

With MAS 2024 concluded, plans are already underway for the 2025 edition, which promises a new setting and evolved themes as Malaysia takes on the ASEAN Chairmanship in 2025.
