2025 Proton X70 Bookings Opened – New Face & Tech Including Apple CarPlay And Android Auto!
National carmaker Proton has finally shed light on its upcoming 2025MY X70 C-SUV model.
At long last, national carmaker Proton has broken its silence surrounding its upcoming refreshed and face-lifted 2025 Proton X70 crossover SUV model. As a refresher, the X70 stood as Proton’s first Geely-based model to be localised, as well as its first crossover SUV offering.
Due to an on-going embargo, there isn’t much we can disclose yet, but Proton’s press release issued today does reveal several key details.
The enhanced 12.3-inch infotainment head unit in the 2025 Proton X70 has FINALLY gained Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity!
Perhaps the most exciting improvement here is the confirmation that the 2025MY Proton X70 will FINALLY offer both wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity from the get go. Both come as part of the enhanced 12.3-inch infotainment head unit primed in the refreshed X70 model, which is one of several improved tech promised.
Also part of the enhanced connectivity is the addition of both remote ignition and cabin pre-cooling functions through the Proton Link app. Critically, the 2025MY Proton X70 also sees its Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) features beefed up significantly – something the carmaker had hinted earlier – to boast Level 2 semi-autonomous driving capabilities.
The face-lifted exterior sees the 2025 Proton X70 sport a new front face featuring a redesigned grille flanked by new all-LED headlights plus a whole new front bumper.
As for aesthetic changes, there’s of course the all-new front face seen in the images provided. Key changes lie in the re-styled front grille, new all-LED headlights flanking it, as well the redesigned front bumper featuring newly designed intakes.
The changes continue on board with the addition of updated new leather upholstery finished in a new stone grey hue, followed by a novel new addition in the form of a multicolour rhythmic ambient lighting suite.
Apart from which, Proton did not disclose further details, but did state that more information will be revealed fully at launch, which also remains undisclosed for now.
Improved new head unit aside, the 2025 Proton X70 will don plush new 'stone grey' leather upholstery. It will also sport a multicolour rhythmic cabin ambient lighting suite.
However, if the recent debut of the 2024 Proton X50 RC is any indication, we can perhaps expect Proton to retain the X70’s existing 1.5-litre 3-cyl turbo petrol powertrain options plus 7-speed DCT box paired with it. The only change lies in the discontinuation of the 1.8-litre 4-cyl TGDi turbo petrol mill the X70 was previously offered with.
Nevertheless, the national carmaker says that it is now accepting bookings for the 2025 Proton X70, and keen prospects can place bookings at a nominal fee of just RM500 at their nearest Proton 3S and 4S showrooms. Proton adds that this booking window remains open until further notice.
With what we just detailed, what do you folks reckon then? Has Proton beefed up its affordable yet premium C-SUV offering well to stave off increasing competition in this space? Would you fancy one yourself? As usual, share your take in the comments below, as well as our social media pages…
