- Launched: 2025 Proton X70 – Four Variants, From RM98,800
The facelifted 2025 Proton X70 debuts today, featuring four variants priced from RM98,800 onwards.
Following a lengthy teaser campaign, national automaker Proton has finally launched the much-anticipated 2025 Proton X70.
Available in four variants, the new X70 starts at RM98,800 for Standard, RM110,800 for Executive, RM123,800 for Premium, and RM126,800 for the range-topping Premium X variant. Despite featuring value-added features worth up to RM13,700, these prices are actually similar to what’s been offered to the pre-facelift model previously.
Included with said prices mentioned above are comprehensive warranty packages and special early-bird promos for the first 3,000 customers.
Included with said prices are a 5-year unlimited mileage warranty, a 5-year data package capped at 1GB per month, six-time free labour service, Proton Insurance programme, and low financing interest rates from 2.4% per annum. Meanwhile, the first 3,000 customers of the 2025 X70 will receive rebates worth up to RM7,000, a trade-in overtrade support worth up to RM2,800, and an upgraded Proton Insurance plan.
The new 2025 X70 is now exclusively powered by a 1.5-litre 3-cyl TGDi mill rated at 177 PS and 255 NM.
Regardless of variants, all models of the 2025 X70 use the same 1.5-litre 3-cyl TGDi turbo petrol mill that delivers 177 PS and 255 NM. Drive is sent to the front wheels (FWD) via a familiar 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox. This means that the new X70 is no longer offered with the 1.8-litre 4-cyl TGDi mill nor the all-wheel drive (AWD) option—both previously available in its predecessor.
Befitting its name, the facelifted Proton X70 gains a totally new front face that took some design inspiration from two of its newer siblings, the S70 sedan and X90 midsize SUV. Up front, the X70 has a new ‘Infinite Width’ diamond pattern front grille that is flanked by a pair of new LED headlights, plus a redesigned front bumper.
Besides the redesigned front face, the 2025 X70 also rides on a new set of wheels, measuring 17-inch for the baseline model, 18-inch for the Executive, and 19-inch for the two top-spec Premium variants. Not to forget, the rear part also gets a redesigned rear bumper accent that appears to be more aggressive with a dark-hued faux diffuser and a pair of tailpipe covers.
At present, buyers can choose up to five exterior colourways for the 2025 X70, namely Snow White, Armour Silver, Jet Gey, Ruby Red, and the new Marine Blue hue that is also used on both the S70 and X90.
The facelift treatment continues as we get inside the new X70, with the most notable one being its redesigned front dash setup featuring an ambient light panel, several gloss black decor panels, and a new three-spoke steering wheel.
But by far the biggest improvement took place inside is, of course, the presence of a new 12.3-inch infotainment display that finally comes with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support. This function, however, won’t come straight out of the box, as Proton will offer them via an upcoming over-the-air (OTA) software update from Proton’s tech arm, ACO Tech.
Other key changes that took place inside here include the new all-black headliner, plush Stone Grey Nappa leather upholstery for the Premium variants, and many more.
On the safety front, the new 2025 Proton X70 now supports true Level 2 semi-autonomous driving capabilities, thanks to several new ADAS functions such as the Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Stop & Go functionality and Lane Centering Assist (LCA). This addition brings to a total of 13 ADAS functions for this C-segment SUV, more than what’s been offered to the previous model.
