- 1 of 600: Proton X70 "Blacked-Out" Sport Edition is Finally Here

Before the X50 and X90 were everywhere, the Proton X70 was the "Big Brother" that proved Proton could make a seriously high-quality SUV. To celebrate its legacy, Proton is releasing a special Sport Edition this weekend.
There are only 600 units for the whole country. If you’re waiting for the price reveal on April 16 before making a move, you might be too late, usually, these limited runs get snapped up by the "early birds" within days.
The "Fierce" Look (Everything is Black)

In Malaysia, we love a car that looks "garang" (fierce) and has that "boss" presence on the road. This edition comes only in Quartz Black, but it’s the extra bits that make it stand out:
- The Body Kit: It gets a full set of skirts on the front, sides, and back. It makes the SUV look muscular and much lower to the ground, giving it a sporty stance instead of just a family-car look.
- The Rims: It comes with massive 19-inch black wheels. No more shiny silver; it’s all-black-everything, which looks great when you’re pulling up at a mall or a wedding.
A Custom Feel Inside

The interior gets some nice "upmarket" touches that make it feel different from your neighbor’s standard X70.
- Red Stitching: There’s sporty red thread on the seats, steering wheel, and armrest. It’s a small change, but it makes the cabin feel much more custom and high-end.
- Special Branding: The front seats have "Sport Edition" embroidered right on them. It’s a nice flex for your passengers so they know they’re sitting in one of only 600 units.
- Free Boot Tray: It sounds simple, but a boot tray is a lifesaver. Whether it's wet groceries or gym gear, it keeps your carpets clean and new.
How to See It
Selected Proton showrooms will have these on display this weekend. You can actually book one now even though the official price only comes out next Thursday. If you’ve been looking for an X70 but wanted something that stands out from the crowd, this is the one.
