BMW Expands EV Charging Network with New Facilities Across Malaysia
BMW Group Malaysia expands its EV charging network by opening four new facilities in Klang Valley, Pahang, and Negeri Sembilan.
Leading premium automaker BMW Group Malaysia has expanded its EV charging network by opening several new facilities across the nation. This expansion wouldn’t come into fruition without the strategic collaborations the group has formed with its dealer partners, as well as several key charging point operators (CPOs).
This expansion sees the group inaugurating four new charging stations across the Klang Valley, Pahang, and Negeri Sembilan. Starting with Klang Valley, BMW Group Malaysia recently opened two new charging facilities, with the first one located at The Curve in Mutiara Damansara. Equipped with four 47 kW DC chargers priced at RM1.39/kWh, this facility is established in partnership with Quill Automobiles and leading local CPO ChargeSini.
The second facility, also established in partnership with ChargeSini and another BMW dealer partner, Millennium Welt, is located at the Imperial Lexis in Kuala Lumpur. It features three 22-kW AC chargers with a charging rate of RM1.00/kWh.
The group’s strategic partnership with Millennium Welt continues in Negeri Sembilan, as both entities also partnered to introduce two BMW i Wallbox chargers at the CMH Specialist Hospital in the state capital of Seremban. Each wallbox provides an AC output of 7.4 kW, providing complimentary charging for hospital staff and personnel.
Lastly, in Pahang, Zenith Hotel Kuantan is now equipped with a 160 kW DC fast charger, priced at RM1.69/kWh, courtesy of the partnership with Millennium Welt Kuantan and EL Charge.
The inauguration of these new charging stations is part of BMW Group Malaysia’s strategy to develop the comprehensive EV charging infrastructure needed for the charging of electric vehicles, together with like-minded local partners, dealers, and key charging providers. To date, the group’s EV charging network has over 2,020 charging facilities, with over 100 of them located at authorised BMW and MINI dealerships nationwide.
BMW Group Malaysia MD Benjamin Nagel
"By introducing more state-of-the-art charging facilities across the country, we are emphasising our commitment to an Electrified Future for Malaysia, which has also been well-represented by the rapid unveiling of more fully electrified models from both BMW and MINI within just the first half of 2024. As the number one premium electric vehicle provider in Malaysia, we believe that these facilities do more than serve our customers; they form the backbone of a nation moving towards embracing comprehensive Electrified Mobility," said Benjamin Nagel, BMW Group Malaysia managing director.
