Making its global debut late last week in Australia is the new Ford Everest Tremor variant pictured.

The blue oval marque expanded its Australian line-up late last week with the addition of a more rugged and beefed up variant of the current-generation Everest SUV. Christened as the Ford Everest Tremor, this special is almost akin to a full-bodied twin to the V6-engined Ranger Raptor.

Based on the mid-range Everest Sport variant marketed Down Under, the Everest Tremor gets a peppy 3.0-litre V6 turbo-diesel mill rated at 250 HP and 600 NM under its hood – it has slightly less power than the petrol-fuelled V6 bi-turbo primed in the Ranger Raptor rated at 397 HP and 583 NM.

This variant of the Everest in marketed in Australia with a 3.0-litre V6 turbo-diesel heart and boasts a 26 MM taller ride height too.

The Everest Tremor’s adoption of this peppier oil-burning V6 also contrasts greatly over its Tremor-badged Ranger pick-up truck twin launched prior in said market, which packs a familiar 2.0-litre bi-turbo 4-cyl mill instead.

Back to the Everest Tremor and said powerplant is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission and selectable four-wheel-drive (4WD) system that also offers a special selectable ‘Rock Crawl’ drive mode. For Australia, all Everest Tremor units also use ‘Adblue’ selective catalytic reduction.

Beefed up suspension sees new springs, larger Bilstein shocks and position-sensitive damping plus piggyback-style external reservoirs. Complementing which are chunkier off-road tyres plus a 'Rock Crawl' mode.

To match its peppy powertrain, Ford also endowed the Everest Tremor with a beefed up chassis. Key additions here are its uprated suspension featuring a 26 MM lift in ride height, new springs and larger Bilstein shocks with position-sensitive damping plus piggyback-style external reservoirs.

As for rolling stock, the Everest Tremor gets blacked-out 17-inch alloy wheels and each are shod with General Grabber AT3 All-Terrain tyres. Other rugged additions include blacked-out ‘heavy-duty’ side steps, a set of steel bash plates, and an optional ARB Stealth Bullbar.

Changes are more limited on board, but does see Tremor-embossed seats, black accents and all-weather floormats at least.

As for the aesthetics of the Everest Tremor, the most evident addition here is its exclusive ‘Command Grey’ hue pictured. Said hue comes on top of Ford’s standard Artic White, Meteor Grey and Shadow Black options.

On board, the Everest Tremor sees limited upgrades that still includes Tremor-embossed seats, black accents, and all-weather floormats offered. Limited too are the units allocated for the Australian market – just 1,150 units, each tagged from AUS$76,590 (approx. RM225,841).

Ford plans to offer just 1,150 units of the Everest Tremor in Australia.

Closer to home, local Ford brand distributors Sime Darby Auto Connexion (SDAC) hasn’t launched either the Ranger or Everest in Tremor guise. Instead, the firm elected to offer just 200 units of the Ranger StormTrak launched earlier this year.

Despite diesel fuel losing its subsidy in Peninsular Malaysia, we reckon there are plenty of local fans with the means who wouldn’t mind opting for the Everest in this latest Tremor guise. Wouldn’t you agree? Share your thoughts in the comments below, as well as our social media pages…\
