- Volvo EX30 EV Crossover SUV ROI Now Opened In Malaysia
Official teaser images of the upcoming Volvo EX30 compact EV crossover issued by Volvo Car Malaysia (VCM) earlier today.
As expected, Volvo Car Malaysia (VCM) is set to expand its local line-up soon with the new and all-electric Volvo EX30 compact crossover. Revealed back in June last year, the EX30 stands as Volvo’s most compact-sized offering yet – it has a smaller footprint than the XC40 Recharge and C40 Recharge duo.
With this announcement, Malaysia will be the latest ASEAN market to welcome the model after neighbouring Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia. Reported local sightings of camouflaged units since last month likely indicates that the EX30 would be locally assembled (CKD) as well.
The Volvo EX30 on show during Auto China 2024 earlier this year. Registration Of Interest (ROI) for the model are now opened online via VCM's website.
When it debuted globally, the EX30 saw three variants available – Core Single Motor Extended Range, Ultra Single Motor Extended Range and Ultra Twin Motor Performance. Additionally, the model also underpins the Geely Sustainable Architecture (SEA) II platform as the smart #1 and Zeekr X.
The two single-motor variants mentioned harnesses a rear-mounted e-motor and rear-wheel-drive (RWD) setup rated at 268 HP and 343 NM. The range-topping dual-motor guise, on the other hand, packs a punchier 422 HP and 543 NM outputs instead to drive all four wheels (AWD).
All guises share the same NMC-type battery boasting a 69 kWh capacity, which can be charged either via 11 kW AC and up to 153 kW DC inputs, the latter promising 10-80% re-charges in just 26.5 minutes. As for range, Volvo touts WLTP figures up to 480 KM (single-motor) and 460 KM (dual-motor).
VCM did not disclose which variants will be available locally, or even an exact launch date. However, it promises details leading up to the latter online in due time.
VCM’s press release issued today does not state if all three guises or just one will be offered locally just yet. However, given how its not-so-distant cousin the smart #1, as well as the XC40 Recharge and C40 Recharge duo, are specced locally, we won’t rule out the availability of all three just yet.
Based on which, what’s also certain is that we can expect the EX30 to arrive into the local market primed with a high-degree of semi-autonomous driving abilities primed from the get-go. Also undisclosed are price and exact launch date, but keen prospects can now register their interest online ahead of the latter.
You can do so via VCM’s official website, or by clicking these blue words. The firm says more details about the new EX30 will be released via its website mentioned, as well as both its official Facebook and Instagram pages in due time.
