- Volvo ES90 EV Saloon ROI Opens Online, Launches This Month

Volvo Car Malaysia (VCM) is now accepting online registration of interest (ROI) for the new Volvo ES90 - the marque's new flagship EV saloon.

Revealed globally last year and launched in neighbouring Thailand back in Oct 2025, the Volvo ES90 – the Swedish marque’s new all-electric (EV) flagship luxury saloon – is now a step closer to making landfall in Malaysia.
Earlier today, Volvo Car Malaysia (VCM) announced that Registration of Interest (ROI) for said EV saloon is now opened online via this link. The firm didn’t outright mentioned this, but we can confirm that the ES90 launches sometime this month.
No word on pricing yet, but we can confirm the ES90 is entering Malaysia as a locally assembled (CKD) offering made at VCM's Shah Alam assembly line.

With that, we are almost certain the Volvo ES90 will enter Malaysia as a locally assembled (CKD) product built at the marque’s legacy assembly line located in Shah Alam, Selangor. Only question that remains is of course price – for now, your guess is as good as ours.
As references, the rivalling BMW i5 and Mercedes-Benz EQE were both marketed as fully imported (CBU) offerings prior with incentivised starting price tags of RM419,800 (sans BS & RI) and RM379,888 respectively.
With CBU EV tax incentives for existing brands and manufacturers (OEMs) expiring on Dec 31, 2025, the Volvo ES90 holds the advantage in pricing by being the first and sole CKD offering in class.

The ES90 shares the same 800-volt platform underpinnings as the EX90. Both single- and dual-motor options are available, along with two battery capacities.

Specifications remains under wraps, but we’ll note that Volvo launched the ES90 globally with single- and dual-motor flavours available, the choice between a 92 kWh NMC or 106 kWh battery capacities, all encased within an 800-volt platform.
Besides up the ability to draw in up to 350 kW of DC fast-charging inputs and yield a maximum range of up to 700 KM, the most potent guise – Twin Motor Performance – offers 680 PS and 870 Nm outputs to despatch 0-100 km/h dashes in just 4 secs.

Naturally, the ES90 is set to mirror its EX90 twin mentioned in terms of specifications on board.

Expect to see the ES90 mirror its lifted EX90 flagship EV SUV twin in terms of specification – top-shelf Bowers & Wilkins audio suite, 14.5-inch portrait infotainment touchscreen with built-in Google services, and Level 2+ ADAS suite, amongst many.
We’ll have more once the Volvo ES90 officially launches. In the meantime, what do you folks reckon? Has VCM pulled a coup that might just see it edge its key German rivals – and perhaps Chinese ones too – with the ES90? Hit the comments below…
