BYD has achieved a major milestone, selling over 10,000 vehicles across Malaysia. To mark the occasion, Sime Darby Motors, the official distributor of BYD in Malaysia, organised the ‘BYD Dream Drive Melaka 2024,’ a convoy drive that brought together over 60 BYD owners.

The convoy flagged off from the BYD showroom in Ara Damansara, embarked on a 2D1N trip to Melaka. It also doubled up to commemorate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Malaysia and China.

Melaka’s historical ties to China, dating back to the 15th century, made it a fitting destination. There participants were treated to Puteri Hang Li Po Musical Theatre performance at Encore Melaka, symbolising the golden anniversary of diplomatic relations between Malaysia and Singapore.

Jeffrey Gan, Managing Director of Southeast Asia, Sime Darby Motors, noted, “This milestone highlights the rising adoption of electric vehicles in the region and Sime Darby’s strong leadership in the EV space.”

Meanwhile, Eagle Zhao, Managing Director of BYD Malaysia, added, “We are incredibly grateful to our customers for their trust and support. BYD's journey with Sime Darby Motors has been remarkable, and we look forward to elevating sustainable mobility in Malaysia.”

Following up on this success, BYD Malaysia now aims to reach its next 10,000 cars milestone even faster, while expanding its network of showrooms to 30 nationwide by the end of 2024.

To date, BYD Cars Malaysia has established 26 showrooms (16 3S centres and 10 1S centres), and is focused on strengthening its leadership in Malaysia’s EV space, driven by innovative vehicle offerings and evolving customer experience.
