The Road Transport Department (JPJ) has opened biddings for the special "MADANI" series registration numbers (NPIs), and it starts from as low as RM100.

This bidding period started Saturday, Oct 19 and will runs until 10 PM on Wednesday, Oct 23, through the JPJeBid System.

This NPI series was initiated by PM Anwar Ibrahim and Transport Minister Anthony Loke during the “Program Madani Rakyat 2024 Sayangi Sabah.” This NPI, according to JPJ, aims to further ignite the spirit and appreciation of Malaysia Madani through individual vehicle registration numbers.

Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli announced that the results of the bidding would be released on Thursday, Oct 24. Successful bidders must register their winning numbers within 12 months from the date of the official results letter. He also emphasised that the bidding process follows the Terms & Conditions outlined in the JPJeBid System.

The minimum bid prices are set according to different categories as JPJ’s usual categorisation: RM20,000 for ‘Main Number’, RM5,000 for ‘Premium Number’, RM2,500 for ‘Attractive Number’, RM500 for ‘Popular Number’, and RM100 for ‘Running Number’.

A quick check on social media however indicates a mixed reaction towards the release of the “MADANI” NPI, which indicates its luke-warm response when compared to other special plates such as the FF or FFF series. It will be interesting to see if Malaysia's top NPI fan, His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, will once again take top spot by contributing towards “MADANI 1” NPI.

Additionally, according to the press statement, proceeds from the sales will go toward funding various initiatives under the Ministry of Transport. It includes MyLESEN, Helmet Exchange, FlySISWA, SOCSO payments for taxi drivers, and other efforts.
