- Stellantis Backed Leapmotor Reaches 500,000 Deliveries Milestone
CNC reports that today marked the 500,000th vehicle to come off the assembly line for Stellantis-backed Leapmotor. The 500,000th car is Leapmotor's medium and large SUV, model number C16 smart driving.
What's more impressive is that the company hit the 400,000 mark in just 100 days. According to the report, Leapmotor delivered 400,000 units in early July, exceeded 30,000 units in August and September, and sold 10,000 units in a single week in the final week of September.
The automaker’s total sales from January to September of this year surpassed 170,000 units, representing a 94.6% year-over-year increase.
Leapmotor's CEO, Zhu Jiangming, states that the company needs to sell more than 38,000 units in October to meet its goal of becoming a "world-class electric vehicle company." The company has set monthly sales targets of 300,000 and annual sales targets of 4 million.
Leapmotor, which was established in 2015, debuted its flagship model, the S01 electric coupe, in 2019. The compact three-door vehicle did not have very strong sales, and it is no longer manufactured.
The carmaker didn't stop there, though, as it also unveiled the T03, a compact five-door city hatchback that is said to account for the majority of its sales. Leapmotor currently offers four C series models: one sedan, three SUVs, and one compact car.
For the record, Leapmotor International is a 51/49 Stellantis-led business that aims to redefine electric vehicles by utilizing cutting-edge innovation and technology and has strong internal development capabilities.
Leapmotor's current models include the T03, C01, C10, C11, and C16, with all but the T03 available in both battery electric vehicle (BEV) and extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) variants. The C16 is the company's most recent six-seater SUV, which was officially unveiled on June 28.
Locally, the automaker's new luxury EV crossover SUV, the Leapmotor C10 EV, was officially unveiled yesterday at The Exchange Mall, TRX by Stellantis Malaysia, for RM159,000. This makes Malaysia the first market in the region to receive it.
