- Launched: 2025 MINI Cooper Convertible – RM318,888
Besides three JCW models, MINI Malaysia also expanded its local line-up today with the new fourth-gen MINI Cooper Convertible.
Apart from the trio of new John Cooper Works (JCW) models, MINI Malaysia (BMW Group Malaysia) also expanded its local line-up with a fourth new addition in the form of the new 2025 MINI Cooper Convertible.
The fourth-gen (chassis code: F67) iteration of the MINI Cooper Convertible arrives locally in Cooper S guise, which packs the same peppy 2.0-litre 4-cyl turbo powerplant as the hard-topped Cooper S twin.
Arriving in Cooper S guise, the drop-top flavour of the fourth-gen MINI (F67) packs a punchy 2.0-litre 4-cyl turbo heart putting out 201 HP and 300 NM, thus enabling 0-100 KM/H dashes in 6.9 secs.
Overall, MINI Malaysia has skipped out on the Cooper C/Countryman C guise and its 1.5-litre 3-cyl turbo mill entirely for the local market.
Indeed, that’s not bad news entirely considering said 2.0-litre 4-cyl mill mentioned grants this drop-top flavour of the MINI hatch with the same 201 HP and 300 NM outputs, promising 0-100 KM/H dashes in 6.9 secs and a 237 KM/H V-max.
the fabric soft-top mechanism can operate on the move up to speeds of 30 KM/H, taking just 18 secs to open and 15 secs to close. (Note: EU model pictured)
Eagle-eyed readers would’ve noticed now that this drop-top has a slower century sprint time and lower V-max figure over its hard-topped twin. Aptly, this stems from its adoption of its retractable soft-top mechanism, which both adds weight and takes up boot space.
Nonetheless, we are certain some wouldn’t mind these small compromises to enjoy wind-in-hair thrills, to which this new MINI model delivers. Speaking of, the fabric roof takes just 18 secs to open and 15 secs to close, and it can do both on the move up to speeds of 30 KM/H too.
For Malaysia, three paintjob options are available - Copper Grey (top), Ocean Wave Green (left), and Sunny Side Yellow (right).
As for paintwork, the new 2025 MINI Cooper Convertible sees three striking hue choices available – Copper Grey, Sunny Side Yellow, and Ocean Wave Green. Before you ask, rolling stock in this drop top comes in the form of 18-inch Night Flash spoke dual-tone wheels.
On board, the 2025 MINI Cooper Convertible again mirrors its hard-topped twin closely here. Key touches include the 240 MM round OLED central touchscreen display delivering various connectivity-driven functions, fabric dash and door inlays, head-up display (HUD), and more.
On board, the MINI Cooper Convertible largely mirrors its hard-topped twin and features the same 240 MM round OLED touchscreen display, fabric dash and door inlays, and lots more common kit. (Note: EU model pictured)
Other standard interior features include an anthracite headliner, wireless charging tray, comfort access system, Comfort Package Plus, Harman Kardon 12-speaker surround audio suite, novel cabin ambient lighting, and more.
Critically, like the JCW trio launched alongside, the new 2025 MINI Cooper Convertible also comes equipped with both Driving Assistant Plus and Parking Assistant Plus suites. As noted, the former brings an arsenal of ADAS features that enable semi-autonomous driving abilities.
As for price, the 2025 MINI Cooper Convertible commands a RM35,000 premium over its hard-topped twin with a base price of RM318,888 - the same as the hotter JCW hatch launched alongside it.
As for price, wind-in-hair thrills comes at a hefty premium. In fact, the new 2025 MINI Cooper Convertible commands the same RM318,888 base price figure as the hot hatch launched alongside it. For reference, the regular Cooper S hatch is presently tagged at RM283,888 – or RM35,000 less.
Take note too that said figure rises by RM10,400 to RM329,288 if the optional Extended Warranty & Service Package is factored in.
