- PRO-NET Fleets Proton e.MAS 7 to Northport Auxiliary Police
Northport becomes the first company to deploy the Proton e.MAS 7 EV for their auxiliary police patrol fleet.
National automaker Proton, via its new energy subsidiary PRO-NET, recently announced the deployment of three units of the Proton e.MAS 7 EV for Northport’s auxiliary police patrol fleet. This deployment makes Northport the first company and port operator to adopt Proton’s first EV model, setting a new benchmark in green security operations.
The deployment of these e.MAS 7 EVs stemmed from Northport’s ongoing commitment to make its daily operations more environmentally friendly. Besides the obvious environmental benefits, the e.MAS 7’s smooth and quiet drive can be beneficial in reducing fatigue for officers during long patrols, while its energy efficient powertrain reduces the need to constantly charge the car.
Prior to its official deployment, we chanced upon sighting these cars early during an impromptu visit to Proton e.MAS EON Glenmarie showroom last week.
In terms of equipment, it seems like the three e.MAS 7 units deployed to Northport are the baseline Prime variant, which gets a smaller 49.52-kWh LFP battery pack for up to 345 KM of WLTP range. Being an auxiliary police patrol car, these e.MAS 7 have been decked in a special Northport Auxiliary Police livery, plus some additional equipment like the emergency lights and many more.
Commenting on this Proton e.MAS 7 fleet deployment, PRO-NET CEO Zhang Qiang said, “We are honoured to collaborate with Northport, an organisation that leads by example in embracing sustainability. The Proton e.MAS 7 is designed for practical, everyday use, and its deployment within Northport’s operations demonstrates that electric vehicles are not just a vision for the future, but a viable solution for today.”
Meanwhile, Northport CEO Fakrul Azhar Tajudin said, “At Northport, we are committed to embracing sustainable practices and clean energy solutions. The Proton e.MAS 7 aligns perfectly with our environmental goals and supports our Green Port initiatives and ESG commitments. As a proudly Malaysian port, choosing Proton also reflects our support for local innovation and national industry development.”
