- Putra Heights Fire - Chery Malaysia Completes 50 Vehicles Delivery
Chery Corporate Malaysia revealed it completed the handover of 50 vehicles to resident families affected by the recent gas explosion in Putra Heights, Selangor.
The Temporary Vehicle Assistance Programme was announced on April 2, just a day after the tragic incident, as part of Chery’s effort to ease the burden of those impacted. The first 25 vehicles were sent on April 4, with the rest delivered on April 9, says the automaker.
This initiative was created to help families who not only lost their homes but also their primary means of transportation. This assistance gives them a way to carry on with everyday tasks like going to work, taking children to school, and attending medical appointments.
The programme was made possible through close cooperation between Chery, the Selangor state government, YAB Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, YB Ng Sze Han, and local authorities, ensuring help reached the families as quickly and smoothly as possible.
Beyond providing a one-month vehicle loan, each family also received RM100 worth of fuel assistance. On top that, Chery also donated RM50,000 to the Putra Heights Mosque, which opened its doors as a temporary shelter for over 80 families.
According to Chery Malaysia, as a fast growing automotive name in the country, they believe standing with the community especially in times like these where even small gestures can make a difference.
