- KTM Shuttle Tebrau Ends 2027, Replaced By RTS Link
After more than a decade of shuttling commuters between Johor Bahru and Singapore, KTM Berhad’s Shuttle Tebrau service will officially end in 2027, paving the way for the launch of the Rapid Transit System Link (RTS Link).
Johor’s Public Works, Transport, and Infrastructure Committee chairman Mohamad Fazli Mohamad Salleh said the train service, operational since 1 July 2015, will be phased out six months after RTS Link begins operations on 1 January 2027.
“However, the Shuttle Tebrau trains won’t be retired entirely. They will instead be used to increase service frequency between JB Sentral and Kempas Baru stations,” he says in a HM report.
The 4km RTS Link will connect Johor and Singapore with just two stations and a joint CIQ complex to speed up border clearance. Malaysia’s 2.7km stretch is led by MRT Corp and will be jointly run by Prasarana and Singapore’s SMRT.
Once ready, it will become the third land link to Singapore, easing Causeway congestion and boosting cross-border ties.
