- GAC Emkoo CKD Makes First Malaysia Public Debut – Est. From RM120K
The locally-assembled GAC Emkoo makes its first public debut in Malaysia, set to go on sale estimatedly from RM120,000.
It has been more than a year since GAC Malaysia (WTC Automotif) previewed its upcoming C-segment SUV, the GAC Emkoo, and now the automaker has previewed the CKD version of said model at Setia City Convention Centre from July 19 to 20. Set to be launched soon, the Emkoo CKD is tentatively priced at RM120,000 for the baseline Premium variant and RM130,000 for the top-spec Premium Pro.
Regardless of variants, the Malaysian-spec Emkoo CKD will be powered by the same powertrain setup, featuring a 1.5-litre 4-cyl TGDi engine and a 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox to deliver 177 HP and 270 NM to its front wheels (FWD). GAC Malaysia also claims a decent fuel economy rate of 6.6 litres/100 km for the Emkoo, putting it on par with some other C-SUVs out there.
In terms of design, the Emkoo boasts a pretty futuristic design, in line with its smaller sibling, the radical GAC GS3 Emzoom. Some key design highlights include the sharp L-shaped “Eyes of Revelation” LED headlights flanking its V-shaped borderless front grille.
The sharp front-end design is matched with the Emkoo’s sharp bodyline belt, while the rear end gets a pretty sporty coupe-ish roofline, plus sharp L-shaped LED taillights, prominent rear bumper accents, and dual tailpipes up the ante for this C-SUV. Not to forget, the Emkoo also rides on 19-inch dual-tone alloy wheels shod in Continental EcoContact 6 premium tyres.
Dimension-wise, the Emkoo spans 4,680 mm long, 1,901 mm wide, 1,670 mm tall, and a wheelbase of 2,750 mm, making it on par with other popular C-SUVs like the Proton X70, Chery Tiggo 7 Pro, and many more.
On board, the Emkoo gets a pretty typical Chinese SUV setup, brimming with tech and comfort amenities. Highlights include the 10.1-inch central floating infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a larger 10.25-inch LCD digital metre display, a wireless charger, multiple USB ports, and many more. Buyers will also get Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), plus GAC’s Full Automatic Parking Assist (FAPA) function as standard.
In conjunction with the Emkoo public preview, GAC Malaysia is also offering special deals on its current model. For a limited time, the GS3 Emzoom B-SUV is offered with special monthly installments starting from RM990, along with a 5-year or 150,000 km vehicle warranty and an extended 7-year or 180,000 km warranty on the engine and powertrain.
Meanwhile, the GAC Aion Y Plus EV is now available at a special promotional price of RM95,800, and buyers will get a complimentary portable charger for each purchase, plus a standard 8-year or 160,000 km vehicle warranty and a separate 8-year or 200,000 km warranty on its battery, motor, and electronics.
