BYD Sime Motors has just launched its latest EV model, the BYD Atto 2, priced at RM100,000.

Following a lengthy teaser campaign that includes a public preview, local BYD car importer and distributor BYD Sime Motors has finally launched their much-anticipated EV model, the BYD Atto 2. Malaysia becomes the first overseas market to debut the right-hand drive (RHD) version of the Atto 2, featuring a single variant priced at RM100,000.

Included with said price is a standard 6-year or 150,000 km vehicle warranty, an 8-year or 160,000 km warranty for the high-voltage blade battery, as well as a separate 8-year or 150,000 km drive unit warranty.

On top of the standard warranties, BYD Sime Motors is also offering two special early bird packages for the first 800 buyers of the Atto 2. The first option is catered towards landed property residents, where they will get a free wallbox charger.

Meanwhile, the second option, catered for high-rise property residents, will get a complimentary 12-month subscription to the Sime Platinum 4+ Package by Power Up. Only available in selected areas, the subscription package includes up to 4x free mobile door-to-door charging services per month, 2x complimentary car handwash, vacuum, and tyre shine per month, as well as 2x free EV rescue services per year.

Not to forget, all early bird buyers will enjoy special RM0 instalments for the first six months exclusive with Sime Motor’s panel bank, plus free accessories such as a vehicle-to-load (V2L) adapter and a Type 2 charging cable with a 3-pin plug.

Only one variant of the Atto 2 is offered in Malaysia, featuring a 51.13-kWh battery pack that is good for up to 410 km of NEDC range.

As mentioned earlier, the Malaysian-spec Atto 2 is available in a single variant, featuring a single, front-mounted (FWD) electric motor rated at 174 hp (130 kW) and 290 Nm. Juice is provided by a 51.13-kWh BYD ‘Blade’ LFP battery pack, garnering the crossover up to 410 km of NEDC range, plus a 0 to 100 km/h sprint time of 7.9 seconds.

Underpinning the same 400-volt e-Platform 3.0 as its other siblings, the Atto 2 supports both AC 7 kW and DC 82 kW, while its V2L output is capped at 3.3 kW.

In terms of segment, the Atto 2 slots between the Dolphin and the popular Atto 3 as the second smallest BYD model in Malaysia, with the EV crossover spanning 4,310 mm long, 1,830 mm wide, 1,675 mm tall, and with a wheelbase of 2,620 mm. Elsewhere, the Atto 2 rides on standard 17-inch alloy wheels with tyres measuring 215/60 R17, plus three exterior colourways are available—Ski White, Breeze Green, and Harbour Grey.

On board, the Malaysian-spec Atto 2 is equipped with a decent amount of tech and comfort amenities, with the centrepiece of the cabin being its 12.8-inch rotating infotainment screen that supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Other key features include powered and ventilated front seats wrapped in synthetic leather, multiple USB ports, an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster, a 50-watt wireless charger, a panoramic glass roof, and many more.

Despite its compact stature, the Atto 2 boasts a pretty decent level of practicality, with its standard boot space measuring 400 litres, which can be extended to 1,320 litres once the rear seats are folded down. Unfortunately, due to its FWD motor setup, no frunk space is available in this compact EV.
