AMH executive secretary Mohamad Azuan Masud told Kosmo that the unfinished stretch has not only prevented the full opening of the WCE but also disrupted the smooth flow of cargo movement from the north to the south, particularly routes leading to Port Klang.

“The impact of this delay is no longer limited to just one section. It has disrupted the logistics flow from north to south, including delivery schedules to Port Klang.

“As a result, travel times are longer, fuel costs are rising, and accident risks have also increased.

“All these factors ultimately drive up logistics costs, which will create a chain effect on the prices of essential goods for the public,” he said in the daily news report.

Azuan further cautioned that prolonged delays could undermine investor confidence in Malaysia’s ability to deliver major infrastructure projects on schedule.

“When completion dates are announced but still not achieved, it can create a negative perception among investors,” he added.

The WCE, once fully operational, is expected to serve as a crucial alternative to the North-South Expressway and strengthen connectivity between northern states and Port Klang, a key logistics hub.

However, repeated delays in completing certain sections have raised frustration among industry players who depend on the route to ease congestion and improve delivery efficiency.

AMH has called on the authorities to give the issue serious attention and urged for a clear, realistic completion timeline to be announced and strictly followed.
