- Rumoured Toyota Land Cruiser FJ Patent Leaks, Debuts Next Week
It appears the rumoured smaller Toyota Land Cruiser FJ is coming soon enough as the patent above leaked online recently.
The rumoured new – and smaller – Toyota Land Cruiser FJ is finally taking shape. Earlier this week, it appears a patent filed in the Philippines for the new model has leaked online, with sources online reporting a global debut set for this month on Oct 21 too.
The reported timing for the global debut online is set of 5AM Japanese time, with said early hours schedule indicating the Land Cruiser FJ could be offered in key right-hand-drive (RHD) markets like Australia (7AM) and the UK (9PM).

More interesting though are the reports online indicating the Land Cruiser FJ will be built in Thailand, not Japan. In turn, this also suggests Toyota could also be eyeing to offer this new ‘baby’ Land Cruiser in the greater ASEAN markets too.
In terms of positioning, said new baby Land Cruiser could be twinned with the upcoming new-gen Toyota Hilux pick-up truck. The latter is slated to debut in Thailand sometime next month too. With that, expect this SUV to also share the Hilux’s powertrain.

As a refresher, the upcoming new generation Hilux is reportedly poised to carry over the existing version's 2.4-litre and 2.8-litre 4-cyl turbo-diesel hearts, and there will be a version paired with a 48-volt mild-hybrid (MHEV) system as well.
From the leaked patent mentioned, we can see the Land Cruiser FJ sport chunky angular styling, a very upright glasshouse, followed by a black mask in its front fascia flanked by a pair of C-Shaped LED headlights.

For the uninitiated, the FJ naming refers the to the iconic FJ40-gen Land Cruiser. Said naming scheme was also used by the retro-styled Toyota FJ Cruiser model that was produced marketed from 2006 to 2022 – a popular recond (grey import) offering locally.
Expect more details when this new Toyota Land Cruiser FJ officially debuts next week. Until then, what do you folks reckon? Excited to see a baby Land Cruiser that might be imported and offered officially by UMW Toyota Motor? Hit the comments below then…
