EPMB Pegoh Charts 1,000th Vehicle Milestone

EP Manufacturing Bhd (EPMB) reached a significant milestone with the production of its 1,000th vehicle - a GWM Haval H6 HEV - at its Vehicle Assembly Plant in Pegoh, Melaka. This achievement underscores EPMB's growing influence in the automotive sector and its successful partnerships with global automakers.
EPMB’s partnership with Great Wall Motors (GWM), formalised earlier this year, has been pivotal in the Pegoh plant's success. By meeting by GWM’s stringent quality standards, it positions EPMB as a reliable assembly partner.

Moving ahead this collaboration is set to expand further in 2025 with the production of two new models, those being the GWM Jolion crossover from April 2025 onwards, and the GWM WEY 80 MPV by the end of 2025. Additionally, the latter has been earmarked for export across ASEAN too.
Besides the GWM brand, EPMB is also set to assemble vehicles for another Chinese automotive giant called BAIC. Under a 10-year agreement signed in April 2024, two BAIC models are slated for the Malaysian market - BJ40 Plus 4x4 SUV (est. RM180,000) and X55 crossover (est. RM120,000).

While these models were initially planned for a Q4 2024 launch, EPMB has confirmed a delay in their rollout to Q1, 2025 instead.
To meet growing demand, EPMB is accelerating its production plans at the Pegoh facility. Phase 1 is expected to reach full capacity by the end of 2025, before Phase 2 adds another 30,000 vehicles annually. Phase 3 will see the integration of vehicle body manufacturing and painting operations, enhancing production efficiency and innovation.

EPMB remains committed to localising critical vehicle components for GWM, including seats, steering systems, suspension systems, and interior trims. This initiative strengthens Malaysia’s automotive supply chain, boosts local industries, and creates new job opportunities.
With strong partnerships, expanding production capacity, and a focus on localisation, EPMB is well-positioned to play a pivotal role in Malaysia’s automotive industry. Its commitment to delivering high-quality vehicles and fostering local innovation reinforces its vision for sustainable growth and regional leadership.
