Fine Up To RM10,000 For Repeatedly Violating Movement Control Order’s SOP

Road users who are found to have violated the standard operating procedure (SOP) of the Movement Control Order (MCO) by crossing the district or state repeatedly will face a maximum penalty of RM10,000, starting March 11.

Police Inspector-General Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador said, individuals who violate the Covid-19 pandemic prevention and control SOP can be charged a maximum compound of RM10,000.

Among the offenses that can be compounded are not wearing face masks, failing to comply with physical imprisonment instructions, failing to provide equipment to record customer details, cross districts or state and entertainment center activities.

"However, we will review the records first to see if the individual has been compounded or not before. If the results of the review find that the offender commits the same offense repeatedly, then the offender can be fined RM10,000," he said.

According to the Attorney General's Office website, the matter has been gazetted under the Emergency (Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases) (Amendment) Ordinance 2021.

For companies found to have committed the same offense can be compounded up to RM50,000.
