The Jag’s Heightened E-Pace Range, Leaping With Electrifyingly Cutting-edge Sophistication
Expanding and enhancing the E-Pace line-up, Jaguar has presented a new model and new connectivity technology across the range.
Jaguar’s newly added trim to its E-Pace line-up comes in the shape of the R-Dynamic Black Edition, which features new dynamic stylings and visual appeal with a bespoke choice of exterior designs.
Plus, the Coventry car maker’s upgrade to the connectivity features across the E-Pace range now includes wireless Apple CarPlay, among others.
Gandering at the new trim, the R-Dynamic Black Edition’s overall build is based on the E-Pace R-Dynamic S.
Said stylings include gloss black door mirror caps and gloss black detailing to the front bumper and lower grille surround, main grille surround and grille tips.
Adding to the finesse, the side window surround and side vents have been completed with the renowned Jaguar leaper that also gets a gloss black finish, along with the Jaguar script and rear badging.
As for the paws, the E-Pace rides on distinctive 19-inch satin grey alloy wheels with contrasting red brake callipers that add a hint of aggressiveness to the appeal.
Other complementing designs come in the form of privacy glass and a panoramic roof that gives a sophisticated layout to the exterior.
Completing the overall silhouette, the R-Dynamic Black Edition is made available with all of the E-Pace existing exterior paint palette, plus a new additional hue called Ostuni White.
Diving inside, the R-Dynamic Black Edition delivers heightened luxury, enhanced connectivity and more terrific refinement.
The main focal point of the new interior design is the curved 11.4-inch HD touchscreen that has been integrated into the central instrument panel.
Its new large display operates the Pivi Pro infotainment system, providing greater clarity and allowing the driver to carry out 90 percent of common tasks within two taps from the home screen.
Under the hood, there is a choice of 2.0-litre Ingenium MHEV powertrains, ranging from the D165 and D200 diesel to the P200 petrol.
All the powertrain options are paired to a 9-speed automatic gearbox and an all-wheel-drive system as standard.
Moving on to the enhanced E-Pace range specifications. The upgraded E-Pace range comes with even greater technology and connectivity options.
Most notably, as aforementioned, the wireless Apple CarPlay, plus the wireless Android Auto system, will become available as a standard feature at the same time.
Interesting about the system feature is that it allows a Software Over The Air (SOTA) update for all Pivi Pro equipped E-Pace models.
Also, it can replicate any smartphone display onto the central touchscreen and give drivers multiple methods of controlling infotainment and phone functions.
Apart from that, the new infotainment system installed also provides the E-Pace with wireless device charging.
Speaking of the Pivi Pro, this infotainment system comes with a range of embedded apps, fast start-up from a respective power source and dual-SIM technology that supports streaming and updating simultaneously.
The technology is complemented by the optional 12.3-inch HD interactive driver display that features enhanced graphics, a fully configurable layout with digital dials, media information, phone functions and full-screen mapping for the navigation system.
Other systems enhancement includes the auto high beam assist fitted as standard on all E-Pace S models, which previously was a standard feature only on the SE and HSE derivatives.
Meridian Audio Sound will also be a standard for the SE trim and memory functions for the door mirrors and seats as standard on all S models.
Drive modes, the R-Dynamic models feature Configurable Dynamics as standard, allowing drivers to sharpen detailed aspects of the E-Pace’s driving dynamics further.
It includes throttle and gearbox responses as well as steering settings and suspension in which the Adaptive Dynamics is specified to tailor the driving characteristics to suit individual driver preferences.
On the performance side, the updated E-Pace range now harbours an efficient 3-cylinder P300e PHEV powertrain, plus the latest four-cylinder petrol and diesel Ingenium engines, which uses the MHEV technology to deliver enhanced performance, refinement and efficiency.
Case in point, the engine line-up comprises, for diesel, a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbo engine with a 6-speed manual transmission, FWD system and 163 PS of power.
Next is the MHEV 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbo engine with a 9-speed automatic gearbox, AWD system that also produces 163 PS of power.
Topping these two is the MHEV 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbo engine, paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission, AWD system that generates 204 PS of max power.
For petrol, it comprises the MHEV 1.5-litre 3-cylinder turbo mill married to an 8-speed automatic with a FWD system that produces 160 PS of power.
Second is the MHEV 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbo mill with a 9-speed automatic gearbox, AWD system and 200 PS of power.
Coming in next is the MHEV 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbo mill with a 9-speed automatic transmission, AWD system that ups the power output to 249 PS.
Fourth is the PHEV 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbo mill that gets a 9-speed automatic gearbox with an AWD system, generating up to 300 PS of max power.
Fifth is the PHEV 1.5-litre 3-cylinder turbo mill, an 8-speed automatic transmission, AWD system and a max power output of 309 PS.
Touching on the P300e PHEV powertrain, it combines a 1.5-litre 3-cylinder Ingenium petrol engine with 200 PS of power and an Electric Rear Axle Drive (ERAD) motor that generates 109 PS (80 kW) of output.
This enables the PHEV E-Pace to dash from 0 – 100 km/h in 6.1 seconds with CO2 emissions from 44 g/km and fuel efficiency of up to 61 km/l.
Moreover, three selectable drive modes are available for the P300e, such as Hybrid, Save and EV. Under the EV mode, it provides zero-emissions driving for up to 34 miles.
The Save mode enables the driver to recover up to 85 percent of battery charge, which can be saved for later journeys, for example, in urban areas.
Hybrid mode uses both the petrol engine and the electric motor most responsively and efficiently in which it switches between pure EV driving and petrol engine driving.
Pricing wise, the new Jaguar E-Pace range starts at £32,390 (RM 188,425) and tops out at £50,240 (RM 292,270). It is available for orders now at www.jaguar.com.
Indeed, the new E-Pace exhibits a state-of-the-art architecture, which Jaguar said its bespoke stylings and advanced technologies give the E-Pace ‘an even more dynamic and sophisticated presence’.
