Launched: Jaguar I-Pace EV – 395 HP Dual-Motor, Up to 470 KM Range, From RM460K

The local luxury electric vehicle (EV) market space is about to get more exciting as Jaguar Land Rover Malaysia (JLRM) has launched its first-ever all-electric model, the Jaguar I-Pace. This award-winning EV crossover will come in two variants, Black LE and HSE, both powered by the same dual-motor powertrain setup.

Built in-house by Jaguar engineers, the dual electric motor setup grants the I-Pace a total system output of 395 HP and 696 NM. This, in turn, gives the I-Pace a 0-100 KM/H sprint time of only 4.8 seconds, as well as a 12.4 seconds finish in a quarter-mile drag.

Said dual-motor setup is being powered by a sizable 90-kWh lithium-ion battery pack that grants it a maximum travel range of up to 470 KM. Juicing up the battery pack from 0-80% via DC fast charging at 100 kW rate will take no more than 40 minutes. The same state of charge can be achieved via a 11 kW AC wall box charging, which will take about 8.6 hours, making it ideal for overnight charging.

In terms of styling, the Jaguar I-Pace sits as a low-slung crossover with coupe-style roofline. Up front, the massive diamond-pin faux grille is flanked by sharp LED headlights, featuring unique dua J-blade DRLs inside it. Beneath the headlights lies a pair of functional air vents that channel cool air into the front wheels for better brake and motor cooling.

On the side, the I-Pace boasts a very sporty and sloping roofline that tapers down to the rear end. This aero-efficient roofline is complemented with the flushed door handles, granting the I-Pace with a drag coefficient rate of 0.29.
Elsewhere, there’s a dark-hued side trim on the lower part of the doors, as well as the 20-inch five-spoke wheels finished in gloss black for the Black variant, and dual-tone dark grey and silver for the range-topping HSE spec.

At the rear, the I-Pace sports slender LED taillights with rear fog lamps that further widen the rear profile of the car. On top sits the small rear wing, while the bottom part houses the rear ‘diffuser’ finished in black to match the aforementioned side trim. All the badges at the rear, including the iconic Jaguar logo, are finished in dark chrome tint.

On board, the I-Pace cabin exudes the perfect balance of modern and luxury, headlined by the 10-inch Pivi Pro infotainment display with voice command and on-board navigation system. Drivers, on the other hand, will be greeted by a bigger 12.3-inch virtual instrument cluster that not only projects driving information, but also the navigation and entertainment information as well.

Other cabin amenities featured in the I-Pace include the wireless charging pad, two USB charging ports, as well as ambient cabin lighting.

Opting for the range-topping HSE spec will swap the standard 12-way memory front seats with 14-way ones, built-in with heating and cooling functions. The HSE also gets a better Meridian 3D Surround Sound system, plus Windsor leather upholstery for all seats.

In terms of safety, this modern EV is primed with a slew of active safety features (ADAS), including Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Cruise Control with Speed Limiter, Driver Condition Monitor, Traffic Sign Recognition, Lane-Keep Assist (LKA), plus a front and rear parking aid with rear camera view via the infotainment display.

The all-new Jaguar I-Pace starts at RM460,800 for the Black LE and RM498,800 for the top-specced HSE variant. All prices listed are inclusive of a comprehensive 5-year or 150,000 KM vehicle warranty with 3-year roadside assistance coverage. Plus, there’s also a complimentary servicing for up to five years or 102,000 KM, as well as additional EV battery warranty of up to eight years or 160,000 KM, whichever comes first.
On top of that, JLRM is giving away a free RM1,000 credit on their DC GoToU app for orders collected during the launch period until 28th May this year, enabling users to easily view charging locations along their drives. Bookings for this EV SUV can be made at Jaguar showrooms in Ara Damansara and Penang.
