A Beautiful Restoration Of An Icon, Jaguar Classic’s 1965 Series 1 E-Type Roadster

Exclusively presented during the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, Jaguar Classic, the marque’s restoration division showcased its latest official restomod, the 1965 Series 1 E-Type roadster.
This one-off rebuild was commissioned by an anonymous Jaguar enthusiast, who was looking for a Series 1 E-Type convertible built the same year they were born.

That’s not all, the client also wanted the E-Type finished in a custom hue of blue like the Union jack and an interior in red leather akin to the shade found on the UK’s famous post boxes.
Noticeably, despite being a classic, the open-top roadster also has its fair share of modern-day technological upgrades.

The original headlamps were replaced with a set of powerful LED lights, while the interior is equipped with the Jaguar Classic infotainment system.
Even though it doesn’t have all the features found on the brand’s current line-ups, it still gets a small touchscreen that can be used for navigation and offers Bluetooth support.

Then, the most significant modification comes under the E-Type’s long-nosed hood. Harboring in the engine bay is a 4.7-litre straight-six married to a five-speed manual transmission.
No specific power figures were disclosed, but the new powertrain is a half-litre bigger than that of the original car, which produces 261 hp.

Besides that, other mechanical modifications include a sports exhaust and manifold that emphasizes the Jaguar’s roar.
Pricing-wise, traditionally as always, Jaguar has not revealed a tag for the bespoke 1965 Series 1 E-Type roadster.

However, basing off the 3.8-litre continuations Jaguar started selling last year through its E-Type 60 Collection program that start at USD 440,000 (RM 1,934,680), it could be in that range or higher.
