Nature lovers and their sports cars can now experience the great outdoors in uber comfort, with the new roof tent from Porsche Tequipment.

This practical adventure equipment was developed at the Weissach Development Centre and co-designed by Studio F.A. Porsche in Zell am See. 

It comes with an exclusive hardcase design that can be installed on the roof of the 911, Macan, Cayenne, Panamera and Taycan, both with and without roof rails.

Offering a room with a view and space to match, it features two side windows and a roof window as standard, and in full extension, the floor surface measures up to 210 x 130 CM.

Next, integrated inside is a comfortable, high-density polyfoam mattress, along with tent walls that are made of a breathable cotton blend.

The interior walls have a highly insulating quilted lining in Light Grey, which the quilted pattern can also be seen on the aforesaid mattress.

What’s more, the tent can endure wetter weather, as it has been designed with water-resistant zips and a separate rain cover for entry.

On top of all these, both side windows can be opened for ventilation, an insect guard offers protection against mosquitoes, and an additional black-out function helps keep the light out.

Lastly to give it some aesthetic, the head end of the tent has a mountain silhouette, while the side walls mimic the flyline of the 911 and feature a ‘PORSCHE’ logo.

Colour-wise, it comes either in a Black/Light Grey or Black/Dark Grey hardcase, each of which is adorned with a matte black ‘PORSCHE’ logo. 

Other than that, additional optional Tequipment accessories will be available soon. This includes an inner tent, a heated blanket and a shoe and bag organiser.

As for its technical specifications, the tent stands at 146 CM long, 140 CM wide and 33 CM tall when folded. Extended, it stands at 258 CM long, 257 CM wide and 118 CM tall.

Weighing in at 56 KG, it is able to support a max load of about 190 KG with the roof rails installed and 140 KG without. Top speed with the tent mounted is about 130 KM/H.

In terms of setting up the tent, it's easy and quick. First, simply open the lockable safety latches, and lift the hardcase slightly to open it up with the aid of two gas pressure shock absorbers.

Then, the foot zone of the floor is folded out and stabilised using the integrated telescopic ladder. As the tent is now unfolded, all that’s left is to erect it and make it rigid with the four poles.

That said, the all-season, two-person Porsche roof tent is now available to order from Porsche sales partners for EUR 4,980 (MYR 22,619), with deliveries slated to begin in November 2022.
