Volkswagen Arteon about to end its production in 2024

Volkswagen Arteon is set to be phased out in 2024 which to be replace with an ID.Aero electric vehicle (EV) as the German’s car brand final sedan in the line-up.

With the way the sedan market is evolving, the remaining mass-market automakers are carving out one sedan to rule them all and Volkswagen started the journey by proposing the EV concept car back in 2018 after unveiling the ID.Vizzion concept.

The Arteon, which was introduced in 2017 as a replacement for the CC, has sold just over 7,000 units in the United States. Nonetheless, VW is committed to maintaining a flagship sedan in its line-up and plans to launch a fully electric Arteon successor in 2024.

Volkswagen ID.Aero, which was shown in concept form over the summer, is expected to hit the Chinese market next year, followed by Europe and the United States in the latter half of 2023.

Under the hood, the concept EV consists of a 77-kWh battery and is expected to have a range of 620 kilometres on Europe's WLTP cycle, or 385 miles in the United States before subtracting a percentage for our more stringent EPA testing.

There's no word on the drivetrain yet, but we expect front- and all-wheel-drive models.

Following the global debut of the Volkswagen Arteon in Geneva in 2017, the successor to the coupe-roofed CC made its first Malaysian appearance at the paultan.org Premium Auto Car Expo (PACE) 2018.
