LRT Service Could Resume Sooner, Problem Rectified, Said Wee

Services on the Kelana Jaya LRT line could be fully restored earlier than anticipated, according to transport minister Wee Ka Siong, subject to a full day's test.
He claimed that after replacing the modem and power supply for the tracks, the issue had been resolved, but the line still needed to be tested the following day.
“The Land Public Transport Agency (APAD) will also need to certify the Thales Group experts’ confirmation that the rail line is safe and stable for use before we can resume operations,” he said at a press conference at the Lembah Subang Rapid Rail depot.
“If there are no more problems, then we will resume services with Prasarana making an announcement at 6pm the day before.”
Services between the LRT stations of Kelana Jaya and Ampang Park were put on hold for a week, according to a statement from Prasarana on Wednesday. There were a total of 16 stations involved.
It was unable to identify the primary reason for the automated train control (ATC) system failure that caused the interruption of services.
The business said that it asked the original equipment manufacturer, Thales Group, for assistance and asked them to send over their experts to investigate the issue.
In the test scheduled for tomorrow, according to Wee, the train will travel the entire length of the Kelana Jaya LRT line.
“We want to ensure the train can run for a full day, and the Thales Group experts must then make an assessment based on this.”
