Porsche 718 Cayman and Boxster Style Edition announced

German car brands are notoriously known for constantly updating their ongoing car models. Be it in a form of performance package or slightly high-end trim packs, mid-life refreshments can be both lucrative and as the name suggests, refreshing too at times.

The latest to do so is Stuttgart-based sportscar maker Porsche. This week, the firm introduced a brand-new Style Edition package for both the 718 Boxster and Cayman midship sportscars. Though no performance upgrades are offered in this package, the Style Edition comes with striking new colourways, a fresh set of wheels, as well as some extra bits here and there.

Headlining this package are a series of fluorescent new colourways such as the Ruby Star Neo hue – a modern take on the iconic Ruby Star colour featured on the 964 Carrera RS. Additional painted decals are also featured with ‘Porsche’ lettering on both sides plus a stripe running across the front hood.

Besides that, the standard 718 wheels get upgraded to glossy black-finished type wheels borrowed from the performance-spec 718 Spyder. Changes at the rear can be seen in the centre-mounted blackened dual sport tailpipes, as well as glossy silver ‘Porsche’ lettering mounted in the centre half.

The 718 Style Edition package comes in two contrasting colourways – either in glossy black or glossy white. The colour selection will cover said stripes decals as well as the new set of alloys.

On board, the Style Edition package offers black leather upholstery finished with contrasting chalk stitching. The headrests are now embossed with the Porsche crest, while the door sills are now illuminated, aside from the stainless-steel finish. Topping off the cabin’s upgrades are the heated leather-wrapped steering wheel.

Powering both the 718 Boxster and Cayman is 2.0-litre ‘boxer’ 4-cyl turbocharged engine that delivers around 295 HP and 380 NM. Notably, Porsche purists will rejoice at the fact that said powertrain in the Style Edition comes paired with a 6-speed manual transmission as standard, though PDK is still available as an option.
Move your feet and hand quick enough and the 0-100 KM/H sprint can be attained as quickly as 5.1 seconds, according to Porsche. Opt for the 7-speed PDK box and it quickens things significantly to just 4.7 seconds. Flat out, both versions will reach a claimed V-max of 275 KM/H.

The 718 Style Edition duo are set to debut in Porsche dealerships across Europe circa early 2023. However, the Stuttgart-based marque has yet to release its official prices for both 7the 18 Boxster and Cayman SE, as well as their availability beyond European markets, for now.
