The New Praga Bohema Is A 700 HP, GT-R-powered Track-Focused Hypercar

Road-legal track cars are something of a novelty for the riches. Imagine paying thousands or even millions to buy a vehicle that not only lacks climate controls, but also comes with butt-aching racing seats and stiff dampers. But in the days of EV hypercars spurring, such entities should definitely be welcomed.

The latest of such is the recently debuted Praga Bohema. For those who are not familiar, Praga is a Czech automaker dated more than a century ago. Not only specialising in cars, Praga also builds motorbikes, racing karts, commercial vehicles, small aircrafts and even supplies military vehicles for the Czech armed forces.

The Bohema is the Czech marque’s iteration of a track-focused hypercar. It harnesses the 3.8-litre twin-turbo V6 from the Nissan GT-R (better known as ‘Godzilla’ to fans) paired with a Hewland sequential gearbox, boasting 700 HP and 725 NM. Praga projects the Bohema’s top speed to be over 300 KM/H, but no official time was set for the 0-100 KM/H sprint, yet.
Underpinning a carbon fibre monocoque chassis, this hypercar only weighs at 982 KG. Coupled with its Nissan GT-R’s powertrain that spurs 700 HP, the carbon-laden Bohema should ace the aforementioned sprint.

Styling-wise, the Bohema sits very low with minimal ground clearance, a la Le Mans hypercars. Its aggressive front fascia features sharp headlights, wide shoulders as well as racing-like centre driver’s pod. Its massive front intake exposes the Bohema’s front dampers, with the carbon front lip completes the F1-inspired look.

The Bohema’s side profile is busy with air vents and ducts, thus making its butterfly-style door openings quite small. Praga decided to take the Italian route for its rubbers, as the Bohema’s racing-style centre-lock wheels are wrapped in Pirelli P Zero performance tyres.

Dominating the Bohema’s rear is its gigantic carbon fibre rear diffusers and flaps. Dual-pipe, centre-mounted titanium exhaust sits just below its long tail-like rear wing that blends in with the body. All in all, the comprehensive aero parts supply about 900 KG of downforce to the Bohema at 250 KM/H speed.

Inside, the Bohema’s cabin boasts carbon racing seats that sit low to the ground, yet still provide enough room to house two full-sized adults, Praga claims. The F1-style seats are being supplemented with a hexagonal steering wheel too. Essential driver’s controls are all situated on the side of the wheel, and there’s a steering-mounted digital instrument display being the sole screen available inside.

There are few more buttons placed on both the centre console as well as the centre roof, giving it fighter jet vibes. Plus, each of the Bohema’s side parts comes with a 50-litre ‘boot’ space, barely enough to fit your racing helmets and gloves.

Tested and approved by Formula 1 alum and current IndyCar driver Romain Grosjean, the Praga Bohema is poised for an astronomical price tag of €1.28 million (RM 6,042,364). The Czech automaker plans to produce only 89 Bohemas, with 10 examples to be built next year. First deliveries are expected to commence in late 2023.
