Audi e-tron GT and Q8 e-tron Registration Of Interest Opens In Malaysia
As noted in our recent Editor’s Note, both the Audi e-tron GT and Q8 e-tron all-electric models are set to electrify the four-ringed marque locally sometime this year. In fact, importers and distributors PHS Automotive Malaysia (PHSAM) has opened Registration Of Interest (ROI) for both models online this week via its official Audi Malaysia website.
From said online registration page, the firm is set to introduce the Q8 e-tron electric SUV range both in standard and ‘sportback’ body forms, and each will also be available in both 50 and 55 trimlines too. As for the e-tron GT, both the regular e-tron GT quattro and hotter RS e-tron GT version will soon be offered by PHSAM.
The latter sport saloon duo will feature a dual-motor and all-wheel-drive (AWD) setup juiced by an 84 kWh battery that promises up to 501 KM in range. As for performance, the e-tron GT quattro has 476 HP and 630 NM in play whereas its hotter RS-badged twin benefit with a higher state of tune with 598 HP and 830 NM instead. These will grant 0-100 KM/H in just 4.1 and 3.3 seconds respectively too.
Crucially, as it shares a similar 800V platform as its cousin the Porsche Taycan, the e-tron GT sport saloon supports both regular AC and rapid DC charging inputs, the former up to 22 kW and the latter at a higher 270 kW rate.
As for the Q8 e-tron SUVs duo, the base Q8 e-tron 50 trimlines also harnesses a dual-motor and AWD setup that draws power from an 89 kWh battery. Claimed range, on the other hand, reads at 491 KM for the standard-bodied variant, whilst the sportier Sportback boasts slightly longer travel up to 505 KM thanks to its slipperier body style.
The Q8 e-tron 55 trimline duo, on the other hand, benefits with a larger 106 kWh battery pack instead to power a similar dual-motor and AWD setup yet again. In this trimline, the former outputs peppier figures of 408 HP and 664 NM. In terms of range, Audi claims that this trimline of the Q8 e-tron can travel up to 582 KM in its standard-bodied form, whilst the Sportback ups the ante up to 600 KM instead.
Once again, both regular AC and fast DC charging are accepted, the former up to a rate of 11 kW or 22 kW with an optional upgrade that Audi offers for select international markets. As for the latter,t eh Q8 e-tron 50 duo can accept inputs of up to 150 kW whilst the higher-trimmed Q8 e-tron 55 twins benefit with the ability to accept highper charge inpurs of up to 170 kW.
At the time of writing, PHSAM hasn’t disclosed details surrounding interior trim packages, other options, as well as tentative prices and targeted launch dates just yet. However, given that the local ROI is now open, we may not have long to wait.
