Ferrari Unveils Tailor Made Roma to Celebrate its 30th Anniversary in China

Ferrari is celebrating its 30th anniversary in mainland China. First setting up shop in the People’s Republic capital back in 1992, the famed Italian marque now has a network of up to 21 dealers around the nation after three decades of operation. To celebrate this auspicious mark, Ferrari is producing a special one-off Tailor Made Roma for China.

Ferrari’s bespoke arm, Tailor Made, collaborated with prominent Chinese designer Jiang Qiong’er in creating this special edition Roma. Taking inspirations from traditional Chinese aesthetics and craftsmanship, the Tailor Made Roma features an attention-grabbing decal stripe finished in Rosso Magma Glossy, that pops against the Sanusilver Matte body hue. Aside from the decal, the Rosso Magma Glossy finish is also applied to the Roma’s carbon fibre sills.

The one-off Roma comes with a special key case that is painted in red and gold Boluo lacquer, which is an ancient Chinese painting technique that gives the case a unique textured finish.

The Roma’s cabin is laden with red-hued finishings, with its front dash, central console, door cards and even seats are all finished in different shades of red, with white trimmings popping out against it. There’s also a special gold plate with jade inlay mounted on the central armrest, engraved with the Chinese characters for “30” – denoting the aforementioned anniversary celebration.
Said plate also signifies some key ancient Chinese symbolism. In ancient Chinese culture, gold is said to symbolise wealth and good fortune, while jade embodies purity and gentleness. Both elements are synonymous with good wishes and reverence.

Aside from the special key case, the Tailor Made Roma also comes with a special lifestyle package designed by Qiong’er herself. This package includes a plethora of Chinese traditional tools and decorations, including a set of four aroma diffusers made with ebony and crystal, a tea tool set painted in red-and gold-spotted Boluo lacquer, an ebony cigar box, an inkstone cigar ashtray, a tea set made using the craft of bamboo weaving, a Xuan paper kite, cashmere blankets, and a Chinese checkers set made from agate and leather. Said items are discreetly stored in various parts of the car, including the glove box, armrest compartment, as well as the rear boot.

This special edition Tailor Made Ferrari Roma is based on the ongoing Roma model, which harnesses a 3.9-litre twin-turbocharged V8 mill that produces 612 HP and 760 NM. Paired with an eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox the Roma can accelerate from nought to 100 KM/H in only 3.4 seconds, while enroute to its top speed of up to 320 KM/H.
