Maserati Will Build More Limited-run & One-off Specials

Maserati has reportedly confirmed plans to build more limited-run and exclusive one-off special commissions. This new and ‘bespoke’ era of Maserati will be based on its product range as well.

Although this matter has been confirmed by Maserati's Chief Engineer Davide Danesin, he also shared that customer-led bespoke builds would be a part of the company's future as it expands beyond its Fuoriserie customisation programme.

Previously, the famed Trident-badged carmaker has made clear its intent to build unique cars for those with deep pockets based on vehicles such as the MC20 supercar, or the new GranTurismo - the latter in either petrol or electric form as well.

This will put Maserati in line to compete against the likes of rivals Bentley and Lamborghini via their respective Mulliner and Ad Personam divisions, as well Q by Aston Martin. Presently, Maserati already provides a plethora of personalisation options through Maserati’s dedicated customisation program.

Danesin didn’t recluse further details, though he did mention limited production hypercars similar to the Ferrari Daytona SP3 and Lamborghini Countach LPI 800-4 has raised customer expectations for the marque.

Sources online speculate that a future one-off or limited-edition Maserati models will most likely be based on the MC20, or the recently revealed GranTurismo.

As the infamous Project24 will be limited for track-use only, said trackday special currently leads the way. Said special, which is a race-built special based on the MC20, is limited to 62 units, with Maserati claiming that no two cars will be alike.

Meanwhile, Maserati will be one of the first automakers to introduce an electric convertible to the market through the GranCabrio Folgore. A fully electric MC20 is also on the way, indicating that parent company Stellantis is doing its due diligence to prepare the celebrated Italian sportscar and GT marque for an electrified future.
