Nissan Plans To Launch 19 New EV Models By 2030

Japanese automaker Nissan is poised to launch up to 19 new electric vehicle (EV) models by 2030. Included in this renewed plan are up to 27 electrified models too.
Prior to that, the automaker has added four battery-electric vehicles (BEVs) as part of its Ambition 2030 strategy. Originally announced in 2021, the plan called for the launch of 23 electrified and 15 fully electric vehicles by the end of the decade.
By that same year, the automaker hopes to electrify at least 55% of its two brands – Nissan and Infiniti, the latter sub-brand coming in an updated form as part of its global line-up.
In the EU, 98% of the company's sales should consist of electrified vehicles, while in the United States, the goal is to have up to 40% of all future vehicle sales to stem from zero-emission vehicles.

Looking at the revised plan, the company's global electrified vehicle sales mix should increase from the previously planned 40% to more than 44% by 2026.
Despite the enormous growth in demand for EVs in China, Nissan has set a somewhat conservative target for its business in the country, aiming for 35% electrified car sales by 2026, down from the previously announced 40%.
In order to compete with BYD and Geely, the marque now plans to launch a dedicated China-only EV designed specifically for the Chinese market by 2024.

Presently, Nissan has both the Leaf hatchback and Ariya SUV forming its all-electric line up. Locally, an updated version of the Leaf is expected to make landfall in Malaysia following a recent Valentine’s Day teaser by local distributors and assemblers Edaran Tan Chong Motor.
