Prasarana To Provide Van-Hailing Service With Kumpool
Prasarana Malaysia Berhad and Kumpool, a transportation company, are piloting a van-hailing service between residential homes and public transportation stations.
Transport Minister Anthony Loke stated that the public can use the service at a reasonable fare of RM1 per use.
"We are ready to add this service to other stations in existing networks," he said during the question and answer session in response to a supplementary question from Datuk R. Ramanan (PH-Sungai Buloh) on the government's efforts to encourage more optimal and comprehensive use of public transport.
The van-hailing service is said to be available in Wangsa Maju and Alam Megah in Shah Alam, Selangor.
Loke also stated that the Transport Ministry was in talks with e-hailing companies about introducing the concept of 'ride sharing,' which would allow their drivers to pick up more than one passenger.
"This directly reduces the fare rate for e-hailing users," he added.
