Gentari's EVChargeGo Mobile EV Charging Solution - Partnership With PRO-NET?
a-full_normal.jpg)
During the last Malaysia Autoshow 2023, we were presented with a EV mobile charging solution by EV Connection Sdn Bhd (EVC) which utilises used batteries from BMW Malaysia which was repurposed and given a second life as a mobile storage unit. According to EVC, the mobile charging unit at full capacity was good enough to charge up two EV at a DC rate of up to 30kW.

An off-shoot from that “proof-of-concept” we assume would be the basis behind Gentari's sister division EVChargeGo which teased its own mobile EV changing unit just a couple of days back. Gentari as we understand has over time built a close strategic alliance with EVC with regards to setting-up Gentari’s charging facilities.
Through images uploaded on EVChargeGo's official twitter and other sources, we can understand that the rescue vehicle that would be used is a first generation Proton Exora.
Some users might cry foul as to why Gentari or EVC did not opt for EV vans and MPV to house these mobile chargers? From our understanding it could be 1 of 2 reasons, first, EV vans are still expensive to be used as a test mule for the time being and the second reason which would make more sense is based on the easter egg featured in the video.
Gentari EVChargeGo charging up a smart #1
If you look closely, the Proton Exora is shown charging a soon to be launched smart #1 that would be distributed by PRO-NET, Proton’s new energy vehicle arm. Hence the usage of the Exora makes perfect sense when it comes to branding. We also know that that both Gentari and PRO-NET had already entered into a strategic alliance some time back. Furthermore of late, PRO-NET is rapidly building its smart dealership networks and is actively looking at charging solutions to put its potential buyers mind at ease.
Now as for the capacity of the mobile charging unit housed in the Exora or the source of the battery, there has been no details divulged yet, but we would assume at least similar charging performance to the unit on display in the Malaysia Autoshow 2023 and the services are targeted at all EV users.

For the time being, Gentari’s EVChargeGo has also announced an upcoming 3-month pilot program which would be done with their strategic partners to uplift the Malaysian EV landscape with the introduction of the mobile EV charging solution.
The outfit has also promised a special introductory price and hopes this on-demand mobile charging solution would help address the core issue in EV adoption being range anxiety.
