Porsche Taycan Sets Record For Quickest EV Drive From Bangkok To Singapore

The three drivers from Malaysia, Thailand and Singapore who performed this record-setting drive
receiving their recognition.
Porsche is a marque that’s no strangers to setting records, even with its electrified Taycan fastback - i.e. this and this. Recently though, said EV sportscar just charted another accolade, this time in our sunny side of the world when it claimed the record for the fastest single journey in an EV from Thailand to Singapore via Malaysia.
Dubbed the “Taycan Record Run”, this feat was done by journalists Pholpat Salayakanond from Thailand, Pan Eu Jin from Malaysia, and Desmond Chan from Singapore. Specifically, the trio piloted a Taycan 4S Cross Turismo in shifts over 1,845 KM, stopping only for short re-charges along the way.

For this record-setting run, the trio covered a distance of over 1,845 KM in just 29 hours and 15 minutes, only stopping briefly for quick re-charges along the way.
Starting from the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Bangkok, the trio’s drive towards the SG50 Lattice Structure in Singapore’s Gardens By The Bay took just 29 hours and 15 minutes. The feat was verified and acknowledged by both the Malaysia Book of Records and its Singapore Book of Records counterparts.
Tasked with timekeeping duties were Porsche Malaysia staff and TAG Heuer officials, the latter providing the driving trio with both a TAG Heuer Connected Calibre E4 and TAG Heuer Connected Calibre E4 Porsche Edition smartwatch as timekeeping companions during their record-setting drive.

Whilst traversing Peninsular Malaysia, both the Porsche Malaysia and Shell Recharge HPC (pictured) charging networks proved vital in keeping re-charge stoppage time low.
Key to this impressive timing were the Malaysia-based Shell Recharge HPC network and both its 180 to 360 kW ABB chargers, as well as the recently upgraded the Porsche Malaysia (Sime Darby Auto Performance) charging network. These provided ultra-rapid charges for the drive, with each re-charge stop averaging around 25 minutes.
The Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo 4S as driven by the trio for this record-setting run, boasts a sizeable 93.4 kWh (83.7 kWh useable) battery pack. Crucially, the setup provides a claimed WLTP range of up to 512 KM on a single charge.
Said battery juices dual-motor setup delivering up to 571 PS (with overboost) and 650 NM to all four wheels. This also allows 0-100 KM/H despatched in just 4.1 seconds. Besides a barrage of active driver assist (ADAS) to boost performance and safety, the record-setting car was also shod in Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres.
