Subaru BRZ tS Arrives In The US with Improved Brakes & Suspensions

2024 Subaru BRZ tS debuts in the US today
Just like its Toyota-badged twin, the second-gen Subaru BRZ is getting a 2024 model year update in the US, in the form of the Subaru BRZ tS. More than just a trim level, the tS treatment sees this compact coupe getting a slew of performance and cosmetics upgrades.

Based on the existing Limited variant, the BRZ tS employs the same 2.4-litre 4-cyl nat-asp ‘Boxer’ engine that delivers 228 HP and 249 NM. Said mill is mated to a six-speed manual gearbox that facilitates power delivery to its rear wheels (RWD) via a Torsen limited-slip differential.

The tS model gets STI-tuned suspension system, as well as Brembo performance brakes
While the powertrain specs remain the same, the tS treatment comes in the form of several mechanical updates. This includes the STI-tuned suspension system with Hitachi dampers that are said to grant the BRZ a “greater flexibility and better control and stability”, Subaru claims. The new damper setup is joined by a high-performance Brembo braking system, featuring four-piston callipers at front, while the rear ones get two-piston setup instead – all painted in gold hue.

Visually, the BRZ tS doesn’t look dramatically different from its standard counterparts, featuring a slew of minor cosmetic upgrades. Highlights include the addition of tS badging at the front grille and the tailgate, Crystal Black Silica-finished side mirror caps and sharkfin antenna, as well as 18-inch alloy wheels finished in dark grey. Said wheels are also shodded in Michelin Pilot Sport 4 sport tyres, for good measure.

Inside, the tS visual treatment is similarly lukewarm as the exterior. The cabin comes standard with all-black leather upholstery with contrasting blue stitchings and embroideries, STI-badged push start button finished in red, as well as a seven-inch digital instrument cluster with tS-specific graphics. With the tS model being based on the Limited variant, you’ll also get tech amenities like dual-zone automatic climate system, an eight-speaker sound system, and fully-digital central infotainment system.

More importantly, the 2024 model year update sees all manual BRZ models to come standard with Subaru’s EyeSight safety suite, including the BRZ tS. This, in turn, grants this model with a slew of advanced driver assistance features, including Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Lane Departure Warning (LDW) with Sway Warning, Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), and many more.

Set to make its market entry in early 2024, the Subaru BRZ tS is poised to be the new range-topping variant for the model, slotting above the Limited variant. As for pricing, the Japanese marque remains tight-lipped about them, but we can expect them to be slightly heftier than the BRZ Limited’s asking price of $31,095 (RM142,026).
So folks, what do you think of the new Subaru BRZ tS? Keen to see our local Subaru vanguard Motor Image to bring this souped-up variant into our local market? As always, don’t forget to leave your thoughts in the comments below…
