Nissan Skyline Nismo Arrives As A Limited-Edition 414-HP Swansong
2024 Nissan Skyline Nismo
For those who are not up to speed, Nissan is reportedly planning to continue the iconic ‘Skyline’ nameplate in an all-electric crossover for its next-gen iteration. But fortunately, before giving ICE-powered Skylines an ultimatum, folks at Nismo decide to give this legendary nameplate one last hurrah, in the form of this all-new Nissan Skyline Nismo.
The Skyline's 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 mill gets Nismo tune-up, now delivering 414 HP!
Mind you, this is not a mere cosmetic upgrade a la Toyota’s GR Sport lineup, but a full-blown Nismo treatment. Based on the thirteenth-gen Skyline model, the Skyline Nismo employs the same 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged V6 mill as the standard model, but has been re-tuned by Nismo to now deliver 414 HP and 550 NM.
Similar to its Nismo sibling across the pond, the Skyline Nismo is not offered with a stick shift option, instead using a seven-speed automatic transmission. However, Nissan and Nismo claim that this gearbox’s shifting behaviour can be changed once drivers engage the Sport and Sport+ driving modes.
Elsewhere, the Nismo treatment continues beyond the powertrain setup, as the new Skyline Nismo also gets a re-tuned suspension system, performance-biased tyres with wider treads for the rear, as well as upgraded brake pads with re-tuned ABS system.
Visually, the Skyline Nismo gets a slew of sporty Nismo touches, making it look somewhat similar to its fellow two-door Nismo models – the Nismo GT-R and the newly-launched Z Nismo. Up front, the Skyline gets a new front bumper design with Nismo-badged front lip – the latter featuring Nismo’s signature red accents. Nismo parts aside, the Skyline’s signature V-shaped front grille is still visible here.
From the side, you’ll notice that the Skyline Nismo now rides on special 19-inch Enkei wheels, which in spite of its bigger size, are actually lighter than the standard Skyline’s wheels. The red accent at the front continues on its side skirts, while the front fender gets a special GT badge – an homage to the classic S54A-1 Skyline GT model from the 1960s.
The red accent goes on to the rear part of the Skyline Nismo, where it ends at the aggressive-looking rear diffuser that features racecar-style centre brake light and Nismo badging. Elsewhere, the tailgate comes with gloss black-finished ducktail spoiler, as well as more prominent dual tailpipes.
The red-black theme continues as we get on board the Skyline Nismo. As standard, it gets Nismo-badged Recaro buckets, exclusive leather-wrapped Nismo steering wheel, semi-digital Nismo instrument cluster, a slew of red stitchings, Nismo door sills, and many more. In case you don’t feel special enough in this Nismo car, there’s also a special plate at the central console that displays the exact unit number of your car.
Only 1,000 units of the Skyline Nismo will be available, and all of them is going to Japan!
And those special plates are an essential addition indeed, as Nissan only plans to build 1,000 examples of this JDM-only Nissan Skyline Nismo, with each of them priced from JPY 7.88 million (RM251,478). Of the already limited 1,000 units, 100 of them will come as the Nismo Limited versions with gunmetal-hued wheels and the aforementioned GT emblem – technically making them rarer than both the Nismo GT-R and Z Nismo.
So folks, what do you think of the new JDM-only Nissan Skyline Nismo? Would you be keen to see one of these limited-edition models end up in any recon car dealers soon? As always, don’t forget to leave your thoughts in the comments down below…
