FREE 1-Way KTM Komuter Utara Ride On 16 & 17 Sept 2023 - Ipoh To Butterworth
Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) is introducing a special promotion for KTM Komuter Utara passengers in Ipoh, Sungai Siput, and Kuala Kangsar stations on September 16 and 17, 2023, by offering free one-way fares for two days. This campaign corresponds with the opening of a new train route to Penang's Butterworth station, as well as its intermediate stations.
The Perak Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad, stated that this initiative, coordinated by the Transport Ministry in partnership with KTMB, intends to ease citizens' everyday routines, whether for work, shopping, or leisure activities.
Saarani stressed that the partnership between the stations in Ipoh, Sungai Siput, and Kuala Kangsar will continue to energise the 'rail tourism' sector, particularly in contributing to the success of Visit Perak Year 2024 through a variety of programmes targeted at attracting more tourists to the state.
In the meantime, KTMB provided details regarding the travel between Butterworth and Ipoh stations, noting that the journey takes approximately one hour and 56 minutes. The one-way fare for adults is RM12.80 while concession fares for children, senior citizens, and individuals with disabilities (OKU) is RM6.40 for a one-way trip.
The first train from Ipoh to Butterworth is expected to depart at 4:40 a.m., with the first service from Butterworth to Ipoh beginning at 5:30 a.m. The last trains leave Ipoh station at 6:35 p.m. and Butterworth station at 7:10 p.m.
Individuals can use online platforms such as KTMB Mobile (KITS) and MyRailtime App to access tickets and schedule their journeys.
