McLaren GT Special Edition Arrives In The UK As MSO-Built Special
The McLaren GT sportscar is getting four small-run special-edition models built by the marque’s personalisation arm, the McLaren Special Operations (MSO). ‘Creatively’ named McLaren GT Special Edition, this UK-exclusive limited edition model features unique exterior hues that pay homage to some of McLaren’s most iconic models of prior.

The first of the four special GT will be draped by the special Cerulean Blue exterior hue that was originally used on the McLaren P1 supercar. This is followed by the special XP Green hue, which is the exact paintjob code used on one of McLaren F1 road car’s prototypes.

The Sarigan Quartz hue, on the other hand, used to appear on the McLaren Speedtail XP2 hypercar, while the final Cyber Yellow hue is a totally now shade based on the existing Volcano Yellow colourway. All of these special colourways are topped with a special pearlescent coat that gives the GT Special Edition a unique silver-and-white sheen.
Aside from the special colourways, all eight GT Special Editions also come standard with the MSO Black Pack, which adds a slew of black accents to several exterior parts such as the mirror caps, upper window trim, roof, exhaust tips, as well as the wheels.
More MSO special treatment can be seen as we get inside the GT Special Edition. The seats and cabin trims are wrapped in custom-made leather upholstery with diamond-pattern quilted stitching in the same colour as the exterior. The headrests are being embossed with the MSO logo, while both the armrest and the car’s key fob are donned with the Union Jack debossing.
Merely just a cosmetic upgrade, the GT Special Edition still gets the same mechanical bits as before...
Unfortunately, MSO has done nothing to re-tune the mechanical bits of this sportscar, as the GT Special Edition still uses the same 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 mill and a sensor-equipped adaptive suspension setup as the non-special variant. Mated to a seven-speed DCT gearbox, the GT Special Edition can go from nought to 100 KM/H in just 3.2 seconds.
To make it more special, McLaren only plans to produce two examples from each of the four varieties of the GT Special Edition, which means only eight units will be available exclusively in the UK. While the British boutique marque did not reveal both the car’s price and availability, we suspect all eight of them have already been spoken for, with each of them definitely fetching serious numbers at any auctions in years to come.
