The Alpine Style Havana Is A Custom Perodua Ativa With A Retro Americana Twist!
What you see here, dear readers, is in fact a heavily customised Toyota Raize – effectively the Perodua Ativa – that bowed at the recent Tokyo Auto Salon 2023 (TAS 2023) aftermarket tuning show. The Havana, along with the Hiace-based Carica showcased alongside it, were borne from exceptionally brilliant custom builders called Alpine Style.
As you can see, Alpine Style has taken inspiration from the old – read: vintage – American vehicles that still roam the roads of Cuba’s capital, hence the ‘Havana’ naming for this build. The effort sees the Raize (Ativa) now sporting a whole new look thanks to a custom new grille, light surrounds, and bumpers that also feature chrome-finished parts.
A closer look also reveals the addition of the Havana badge on the tailgate, not forgetting retro chrome wheels shod with Toyo all-terrain tyres. Despite the retro looks and stance, Alpine Style has equipped the Havana with modern LED running lamps and blinkers underneath the four square headlights.
On board, Alpine Style has primed the cabin with a new 9.0-inch infotainment screen plus a 12-inch digital rearview mirror. A display for the rear passengers is available as an option. Other noteworthy bits here include new seat upholstery and floor mats, plus an uprated sound system.
Besides the Havana, Alpine Style also showcased the Carica, which is based on the evergreen Toyota Hiace van. The ‘Carica’ name itself is a portmanteau of "California Dreaming Car," which inspired this build. Two versions were shown, one US Style build, and the other being a Euro Style version.
Starting with the US Style build, Alpine Style has dressed it in a two-tone teal and white colourway with chrome parts for the grille, bumper, mirror caps, rear trim, and wheels. The Euro Style variant, on the other hand, gets brushed metal bumpers with black accents adorned on the rest of the exterior.
In addition to displaying these vehicles at Alpine's booth at the Tokyo Auto Salon, Alpine Style has opened up orders for both cars to prospecting customers at the show too. The estimated starting price for the Carica reportedly reads at JPY4.98 million approx. RM167,998), whilst the Raize-based Havana starts from JPY3.98 million yen (approx. RM134,264) instead.
Said prices include the price of purchasing the respective Toyota Hiace and Toyota Raize base cars too.
Are you digging this retro Americana twist to both the Hiace and the Ativa’s Toyota-badged cousin? Hit the comments below with your thoughts, folks…
