Facelifted Isuzu D-Max Pick-Up Truck Lands in Thailand

Making its global debut in Thailand today is the all-new Isuzu D-Max facelift pick-up truck. This is the first time this third-gen pick-up truck model has been given a major update since making its debut back in 2019, featuring a redesigned look and better equipment on board.

The facelifted D-Max gains new front face, as well as other minor design tweaks
Starting off with the visuals, the facelifted D-Max gets a mild design update, with the highlight being its new front face. The new face gets redesigned headlights, new dark chrome front grille, as well as a redesigned front bumper with integrated air vents. Aside from that, this updated truck also gets new “triple-armour” LED combination taillights, while the souped-up D-Max V-Cross (sold as the X-Terrain in Malaysia) variant gains wider wheel arches.

The new D-Max cabin now comes with new semi-digital instrument cluster and multi USB-C ports
The facelift treatment sees the new D-Max’s cabin getting a slew of new and updated equipment. Key highlights include a new steering wheel with paddle shifters, ventilated front seats, new 7-inch semi-digital instrument cluster, multiple USB-C ports replacing the old Type-A ones, and more.

Meanwhile, its central infotainment display – coming in either 7-inch or 9-inch form, depending on the variant – has been updated to accommodate wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support. Also featured here are new brown/black upholstery with bronze trims, while most of its physical dials and buttons are being replaced by the touch-sensitive ones instead.

The updated D-Max is still offered in either a 1.9-litre or 3.0-litre turbodiesel engine options
On the powertrain front, the updated D-Max retains its predecessor’s 1.9-litre 4-cyl turbodiesel mill that delivers 148 HP and 350 NM, while the peppier 3.0-litre option rated at 188 HP and 450 NM is still offered in selected markets. Both engines are mated to either a six-speed automatic or manual transmission, and two-wheel-drive or part-time four-wheel-drive setup, depending on the model.
New to this updated model is the ‘rough terrain’ driving mode’ carried over from the MU-X SUV, which is said to sharpen the brakes and transfer torque to the wheels with the most traction when rock-climbing. Plus, this new driving mode can also automatically engage the rear differential lock.

Now open for order in the Thai market, the new Isuzu D-Max facelift starts at THB 917,000 (RM117,355) for the baseline, single-cab 4X2 model, while the range topping D-Max V-Cross 4X4 AT model fetches a THB 1.257 million (RM160,868) price tag. Aside from Thailand, this updated truck will also make its way in other international markets including Australia, with Malaysia also sitting high on the list.
As for now, Isuzu Malaysia has yet to reveal any plans or announcements regarding the arrival of the updated D-Max model. However, we’d reckon the facelift model might be launched later next year, alongside other newly-updated pick-up trucks including the next-gen Mitsubishi Triton.
