ParkEasy Shell Recharge Per/kWh Rates Starting 1 Nov 2023 - RM1/kWh

It appears that the Shell Recharge EV charging network operated by ParkEasy is switching from the standard minute-based EV charging pricing to the much favoured per/kWh rate. With the help of Shell, ParkEasy, which initially focused on mobile-based quick parking reservations, has expanded into the EV charging market. The majority of ParkEasy Shell Recharge EV charging stations in the past are technically parking lots, so both EV and ICE vehicles may utilise them irregardless.

Based on a social media post of what appears to be a memo from ParkEasy, which indicates that the company is changing its EV charging rate to give customers a more reasonable price. Starting on November 1st, EV customers will be charged a fixed confirmation fee of RM5 with a per-minute rate of RM1 to charge at any of ParkEasy Shell Recharge EV stations. After the 15 minute grace time to remove your fully charged vehicle, there will also be an idle fee of RM1 for every 30 minutes.
With the new charging rate, ParkEasy Shell Recharge, which was previously notorious for its high charging rate and is one of the last resorts for EV customers, would now be one of the more affordable options available. The message also adds that this new fee is applicable to all ParkEasy Shell Recharge EV charging locations, whether they have AC or DC chargers.

When we contacted the ParkEasy hotline to ask if the app's current minimum credit requirement of RM200 (RM1 = 1 Credit) would be kept when moving to the per/kWh system, we were told that this detail was still being finalised and users would be notified in due time. Additionally, details regarding the membership subscription fee that ParkEasy Shell Recharge was previously offering are also still lacking.

A quick check on the Energy Commission’s site also shows that ParkEasy’s parent company Pixelbyte Sdn Bhd has been awarded the ST Licence for 12 of its EV charging stations.
