Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Panamericana Special Bows, Just Two Made

Just two units of the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Panamericana Special have bowed, with one heading for auction soon.
Besides the manic new 911 GT3 R Rennsport track-only special, the Rennsport Reunion 7 event held last weekend at the famed Laguna Seca circuit also saw the celebrated German sportscar marque debuting a pair of special 718 Cayman GT4 RS made in partnership with watchmakers TAG Heuer.
Limited to just two units, the new Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Panamericana Special were borne through Porsche’s ‘Sonderwunsch’ program. Both cars were inspired by the two 550 Coupes that raced in the 1953 Carrera Panamericana race, hence their special liveries.

Both specials pay homage to the two original Porsche 550 Coupe racecars that competed in the 1953 Carrera Panamericana cross-country road race held in Mexico.
Both models are dressed in Le Mans Silver Metallic, and one has the racing numbers ‘152’ painted on its doors and roof while the other has a similar scheme with numbers ‘154’ instead. Both numbers pay homage to the original 550 Coupe racers mentioned, which features a yellow hue too.
Completing the special exterior liveries are the TAG Heuer emblems in dark grey emblazoned on their front hoods of each, along with a red Pegasus decal adorned on rear quarter panel of car ‘154’ and the front quarter panel of car ‘157’.

On board, both specials don Guard Red leather seats with contrasting black leather on the dash, doors, and centre console. The steering and console also sees special tri-colour stitching in the motif of the Mexican flag.
Equally special are the interiors of both, which sees Guards Red leather seats contrasted with black leather door panels, dash, and centre console. There’s also a tri-coloured cross-stitching in the colours of the Mexican flag on the steering and dash.
Notable too are the TAG Heuer emblems embossed in the centre armrest, as well as ‘GT4 RS Panamericana Special’ scripts door sills script.

Arguably the main highlight of the cabin, the left side analogue clock features an eight-day power reserve whilst the right-side clock functions as a stopwatch with a scale for drivers to maintain an average speed.
The main highlight of the cabin arguably are the analogue clocks mounted front and centre in the dash. Supplied by TAG Heuer, the right side clocks serves as a stopwatch with a scale for drivers to maintain an average speed, whereas the left side clock serves as a general clock that boasts an eight-day power reserve.
These clocks hark back to the original TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph released some 60 years by Jack Haeuer who named said watch after the famed Mexican cross-country road race.

Said clocks supplied by partners TAG Heuer hark back to the original TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph launched 60 years back and named after the famed Mexican cross-country road race.
Beyond the special aesthetic treatment noted, it appears both cars are mechanically unchanged from the base Cayman GT4 RS. As a recap, it packs a mid-mounted 4.0-litre naturally aspirated ‘boxer’ flat-6 mill that shells out 493 HP, 450 NM, and 9,000 RPM red line.
Whilst the number ‘154’ special was presented last weekend at Rennsport Reunion 7, the number ‘152’ unit will be presented at this year’s running of the Carrera Panamericana where it will be auctioned off. Typical of such special Porsche models, it is expected to fetch a fairly high auction sale price then.
For perspective, the regular 718 Cayman GT4 RS road-legal trackday model this special underpins commands a sizeable RM1.55 million base price when it launched on Malaysian soil late last year.
